Why Nicholas Britell is big brained: all his episode themes layer on top of each other to create the full theme of Andor season 1.

It’s a dang shame he couldn’t compose for season 2 :(

It IS the best Star Wars content we have gotten and may ever get.

Niamos has been in my playlists ever since the club mix came out in Season 2.

might has well have just shown the whole season for this one

Oh ok, I'll watch Andor for the 20th time.

36:30 you missed tons of great details in the tractor beam escape.

Once Luthen was caught in the tractor beam, he asked his on-board assistant to rev his port side engines, providing a narrative about an overheating engine.

He then did a calibration to figure out the strength of the tractor beam, which was set at 2. To force them to increase it, he needed to give them a reason to.

When he told the computer to "engage reverse stabilisers on his throttle", which is getting his reverse throttle to match his forward throttle. This essentially is like trying to step on the gas with the handbrake engaged. It creates a whole lot of nothing but it gives the illusion that he his engines are at full burn. Thus causing the ship to increase their tractor force.

This is clever use of the mechanics in this universe to show trickery on Luthen's part.

PLEASE DO SEASON 2 NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it very interesting how Skeen projects the image of one who has lost people, specifically family, to convince the rest of them that he is a true believer when he is in fact only in it for the money. Whereas Cassian uses the image of someone who is only in it for the money to hide the fact he really really hates the Empire because they have consistently take so much, so many, from him. The first interaction he ever has with the Empire is them killing his sister, and once he has a family again, people who he feels safe around and who he loves, they take his father from him as well and they continue to take and take until he finally decides he can stand no more of it and joins the rebellion proper. The motif of a mirror image is used a few times in this show and i always think it is very interesting, but this is the most clear example imo.

6:53 funny thing is, this is what happened to the Jedi as well.  They were overconfident that the Sith could exist under thier own nose or that Dooku was "once a Jedi" therefore its not in his character to be evil.

About the decision not to translate the Kenari language:

I can't claim this, but I saw a post months back pointing out that, the reason it's not translated is because we're seeing it from Cassians perspective, and even he doesn't remember the language anymore

Just a subtle nod to what Cassian has already had taken from him by the Empire even from such a young age, especially with him enduring the same thing come seasons end, and well, into Season 2

Also about the "Cass being unlikable" when he shouts at Maarva to "WAIT" He does know that this amount of stimulation will overload our old man Bee, while it's definitely a crass thing to do, it makes sense

Something I read was how Tony Gilroy was reluctant to start Andor in the first place. He was waiting for Disney or Kathleen Kennedy to shut him down. Hell, he wanted it to happen. But everything he asked for, he got. The first scene in a brothel and two cops being killed by our main protag? Awesome, get it done. Tony wants to get the production designer and casting directors from Chernobyl? Sounds great, go do that. Building real sets and not shoot in the Volume for most of the show? Let's go and do that. Kathleen Kennedy had total faith in Tony Gilroy.

Over time, Tony started to get in the groove and gel with the show. Sort of like how Cassian warms up to becoming a Rebel and fighting for a greater cause. And everyone in this show brought their A-game. Not just the actors and actresses, but the writers, directors, production staff, and everyone else working behind the scenes.

"i cant swim" is geuinely one of the saddest lines in TV

Andor changed my perspective on Star Wars so much that I now only consider Andor season 1&2, Rogue One, and the original trilogy to be top tier peak Star Wars. Everything else in the franchise’s film and tv category runs a significantly distant second for me now. Yes, there are many cool parts you can extract from the other shows and films, but I don’t see them as equal in terms of consistency and quality. Watching Andor made me feel I was seeing the Star Wars I imagined when I first saw the original trilogy as a child. I still love pretty much all of Star Wars, it’s just that Andor raised the bar so high I had to reconstruct my tier list and everything I didn’t mention above doesn’t rate any higher than B.

Andor is the best Star Wars since ESB. Beats all the other shows by miles.

I think Andor is qualitatively the best Star Wars piece ever its just hard to call it the best in absolute due to the immeasurable cultural impact of the movie.

When Cassian says "Tell me what to do", he's not asking for directions, he's saying "Give me another order and see what happens." Your read of the moment is incorrect.

MAAAAATE. Your choices on which TV shows to review have been nuts lately! Spectacular spider-man and now ANDOR?!?!?!? Easily one of my favourite pieces of star wars media since the original movies.

still waitin' on season 2 of spidey btw cough cough

"Andor" is the end of Star Wars. This kind of quality will never be reached again. Thank you.

24:45 You also gotta love that the whole Prison segment of Andor feels aesthetically like a love letter to George Lucas’s first movie, THX-1138.

Luthen tells Lonnie "I share my dreams with ghosts" then in the final episode, we see the "ghost" of Marva telling Luthen to fight the empire. I love this show

41:30 Andor is some of the best TV we've ever got. Period.
