“Flowers for Algernon” still gets me, to this day.

I remember reading Flowers for Algernon and one main thoughts I had wasn't just about Charlie gained and lost by becoming smarter, but he's also essentially speed running  what can essentially be seen as different stages of life with everything he experiences

Unwind is so sad but so amazing. The movie based on the ruins did an amazing job keeping it fairly close too.

The running man is eerily similar to reality

The Lottery: I hated that story. Had to read it in 7th grade.
Flowers for Algernon: Helped me understands people who are different.
The Running Man: Once I read the book I thought it was much better than th movie. It also showed how desperate people can be manipulated.

I remember when I first saw a video of The Lottery: I assumed it was a prize…until everyone started picking up stones.

I also noticed that Jackson specified that the Delacroix family had an Anglicized pronunciation and this is explicitly stated.

9:03 this book has stuck with me every since I read it like 15 years ago.

We read The Lottery in school. It was a classic that at least high schoolers could grasp. The movie based on Flowers for Algernon, Charlie, was a favorite of mine as a kid. Another story that you can easily follow and understand.

The ruins sounds like it was based on the famous manga Higanjima (or vice versa) , where a group go with their friend to help him find his missing brother who was last seen on a ruined island that turned out to be inhabited by vampires

When I told my therapist I felt like I was getting less inteligent, less able to deal with my disorders, and that this made me feel useless, she gave me Flowers to Alegernon to read. The first thing she did when I gave her the book back in our next session was say "So, let's imagine you're becoming less intelligent, which isn't true, but let's imagine it. Is your intelligence your only value? Could you honestly say that to someone? Otherwise, what makes you think your worth depends on your intelligence, especially when you're learning to deal with difficulties you've never prepared for before?". Everyone should read that book

The problem with ‘The Last Question’ is it invites an issue that most people in modern day can’t quite relate to. One of those far away problems someone else will have to deal with. ‘The Last Answer’ also by Asimov, is significantly darker and more personal. Underrated compared to it’s counterpart imo

Unwind is one of the most disturbing things I've ever read.

I never read any of these. Not sure if I ever want to. I’m pretty sure “Unwind” would turn me into a puddle of tears, and “The Last Question” actually seems to be too realistic of a possibility.

I read Shade’s children in HS and they had us listen to the Feed audiobook. I remember being disturbed yet intrigued by these stories

I damn near threw up reading that chapter of Unwind.

the lottery DOES discuss how the ritual is being questioned.  it is even mentioned that some other communities have given it up and that the talk of quitting the ritual is spreading through the land.

Unwind I find the most disturbing

The only book I ever cried over is Flowers for Algernon

My wallet just sighed after this video

Screamers scream but scream alone,
Ferrets hunt in twos;
Trackers follow in a three,
But look out if the Wingers choose.
