so guys here's a quote that made me think really deep all night,
It goes like "If God doesn't exist, who is laughing at us," 😭 Fyodor dostoevsky

Dante's Inferno gives me shivers every single time I hear the story. Such an incredible story.

Fun fact: there is a mobile game of 'the fall of the house of Usher ' called the black cat

I'm happy to see Dante's inferno on this list

4:47 Twin sister. There is no way they are the same age.

The House of Usher:....its black mold, leave the house.

7:17

Vergilius: Dantehhhh Stop spending all our Lunacy Dantehhhh.

i just imagined Heart of Darkness as an A24 film and I wept

I saw the title of this video and I said to myself: You know, I already expected "Heart of Darkness" to be pretty dang dark.

I had no idea how dark some of these actually are… definitely not what I expected.

youre videos are super amazing!! im trying to get more into literary history and your channel has helped me with that :) a suggestion for a later book i have is perhaps les miserables? its quite depressing but its a very good book!! also i love how u added the fall of the house of usher, poe is one of my favorite old authors!! some other suggestions for future videos i have could maybe be the tell tale heart or the black cat? theyre both pretty dark.. there r just suggestions, idk, mb, i love ur videos tho :D

proud direct descent of Charles Perrault. we have all his books <3

These are dark. Thanks for the video. It helps me to be part of the conversation when topics like these books come up. Also the horror, the horror is something I have heard in many different places and I finally understand where it came from. Wow!

Dante's inferno is one of the best fanfics in literature

I love your videos, I found them yesterday and I'm binge watching everything 😊
At first I thought you were AI but I think you're human.

Roderick, No!

Dante’s inferno is peak fiction.

The netflix adaption of Fall of the house of Usher is so good in my opinion. Highly recommended

Thanks for this video, I'm practicing and learning new stuff in English and also I got nice book's recommendations

Thank you for the video!
I'd suggest two not very famous, very short plays/books. I hope you can find a translation in your language:
- "The Man Outside" (Wolfgang Borchert): a post war (WW II) story of someone coming home from war.
- "Der Tor und der Tod" (Hugo von Hofmannsthal): a man is visited by death himself, looking back at his mostly evil life, seeing and thinking about the consequences...

If you can find translations of them, you'd be even done very quickly, I think each play was below 1 hour to read (last time I read them was about 25 years ago, so my memory might be wrong, but they surle were short)
