Justice for Ruby & Otis.

one of the first things this show does is presents all the characters as their stereotypes and then almost immediately begins subverting the expectations and showing you that stereotypes are real people with depth and feelings. it’s brilliant because they are still the stereotypical characters but they’re also so much more than that

I’m so glad you clocked Otis and Maeve just giving friends vibes because I find it very disheartening how EVERYONE hooked up with someone close to them whereas Jackson and Vivienne got the “just friends” treatment and even gave Vivienne 2 bfs when one was abusive to her… like they really didn’t want her to be happy with Jackson when they had chemistry compared to other relationships that happened 🫠

For season 4, I think that the fact that the show got "too much woke" and wasn't realistic anymore is kinda the point... Like I get it, I didn't really like it at first either BUT after re-watching it a couple months ago it actually made sense. It's a society/school that prides itself for being super inclusive but it's all performative, as the most essential needs aren't met. For me the episode where Isaac starts a protest because the school's lift keeps breaking really shows the core messages of the season

The first two seasons were pristine, the writing was top notch . Each character was given love and depth, well rounded .Past season one that Otis -Maeve love will they won't they is annoying . My favortite plot point was how they treated Aimee's storyline with care and not just something that happened and she move's out

Netflix's Heartbreak High Is Basically Sex Education's Australian Cousin

I was so focused on how amazingly you dissected everything that I only noticed halfway that you use scissors as a mic

I didnt like the last season but i enjoyed the show.

im SO glad to see someone talking about this show, literally my favorite show of all time it means so much to me

YES IM SO GLAD PPL ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS SHOW

i miss how GOOD this show was in the beginning. the last season was a disaster (thought i really did appreciate the way they kept introducing more identities) it became a parody of itself

We had Ruby before Maddie

sex education is my comfort show and it's helped me understand myself a lot, which isn't something i expected when i read the description. i wish it had one more season so more time could be taken to wrap up the storylines of the new characters and i do wish we knew a little about what happens afterwards, but apart from that I actually found the ending really beautiful. i found myself rooting for (almost) every ship and character despite their flaws which is something my nuance hating aah usually can't say and the way it explores so many sensitive topics in a loving and comedic way is something all directors, screenwriters, etc, should be taking inspo from

The first two seasons are definitely masterpieces of teen fiction to me. The style, the writing and characters are so amazing and well thought out I truly loved it. I do love season 3 for the campness of it all but season 4 was a bit of disappointing way to go. I do have some small things i would've tweaked personally e.g I would've loved if Otis turned out to be ace in some way or would've had Eric be less of a dick by the end of a show. However I'm just glad a show like it existed

4:00 Skins was so good 😭 I'm starting to feel old.

Sex Education is just amazing. Love how this generation has shows like this and Heartstopper. ♥
I also love when shows portrait the adults as fallible, yet helpful, guardians - as actual people. Not just an annoying obstacle to overcome. Currently becoming a parent, puberty is what scares me most and I love that I can look to these shows for guidance on how to (not) approach certain conflicts. ✨

I think I'm gonna go rewatch Sex Education !

oh to watch this show when it was airing it’s so nostalgic already

Hey love this video, and would love to chat more about the Adam and Eric storyline, a. Justice for Adam for sure! Love that he was doing that work and b. Omg as a young queer kiddo I loved this storyline. Being queer is all about growing into who you are and one massive issue is how "out" or comfortable someone else is in their skin. I am polyamorous and there is a lot of good examples of this. Being queer, poly, etc requires a lot of learning and sometimes there has to be moments where you step back from people who are holding you back from being yourself. The nuance this show shows of this experience is not seen in other places, the specificity of this queer experience. No it's not fair and no it's not fun, but damn is it real and made me feel seen. It can not always be the job of the accepting and out queer person to hold space especially in a relationship, sometimes you have to leave someone who is stopping you from being yourself. I love that they showed this with the nuance and heartbreak that it causes.

One of my comfort shows
