It’s so cheap how Alex dismisses his genuine critiques as “you’re overly obessed with this movie” when the movie is literally an allegory of consent 💀

The fact that he says that Bear deserves credit for not immediately assaulting her, but completely omits the fact that Bear goes on the rape her after confirming that the wish worked is doubly disgusting.

The fact that his response is almost always 'but women' makes me very suspicious

"He didn't rape her? What a gentleman!"  Alex Myers 2026

"he could have taken some kind of advantage of her but he was rather gentlemanly at the time." Such a huge red flag of what kind of person Alex is

The guy who takes every opportunity to mention how girls didn't like him in highschool? Yeah I'm not surprised

One thing is he was quick to talk about Nikki being mean but never criticized Bear on actually going through with calling her freaky Nikki

The way he says “he didn’t wish for Nikki to be obsessed with him” when he literally said “more than anyone in the world” is so ignorant

This movie was WAY beyond his depth. The entire tone of his reviews doesn't fit with Obsession whatsoever.

Mal is a crazy comparison because she literally feels guilt about Ben being magically in love with her. Despite there being no benefit to her breaking the spell at all she decides she will because she decides it’d be cruel to keep him in love with her. I hate how nonchalant the movie is about the magic love spell but to say it’s the same situation as bear is wild.

"He mentions that she's a Latina three times" Yet when you bring up how fetishizing it is in his own apology, his fans put words in your mouth. As a Hispanic woman, it irritates me.

Hes sexist that’s why, I mean the whole time he was using woman as an example of why it’s okay that bear took advantage of Nikki. Also in his apology he literally said sexist ass things in that said “apology”.

alex meyers when he has to review movies that arent objectively bad

The way that Meyers analyzes movies in general is NOT for Obsession. It’s the wrong tone to give to this kind of movie

I feel like it's very odd that his argument leans heavily on infantilizing Bear? Like all of the comparisons to teenage girls or teenage movies in an effort to make Bear look good and rational, and dodging treating him like the adult grown man he is.

Thank you for not taking his side.  Stereotyping her as an a hole who deserves it….  Not addressing the abuse because he didn’t want to show it but had enough energy to make SA jokes is disgusting.

I stopped watching Alex Meyers after he completely did not understand Wanda's mental breakdown in Wandavision. Also, having light, jaunty Mario music playing in the background while talking about "Obsession" is tonal whiplash, that is not what the movie deserves.

It’s so cheap of Alex to pull the “if you think deeply about this movie then you’re unhealthy attached” in the beginning just to dismiss his genuine critiques on his video. God forbid someone takes media ab someone losing autonomy over her own body seriously ??

Lets not ignore that no one made him create this reaction video...he watched the movie and felt COMPELLED to make....that
