"It only took ten frames to ruin a girl's life" must be one of the greatest analysis on an editor's choice I've heard

Calling Nikki “Inde” but only calling Bear “Bear” is so funny to me it’s like when people call MJ “Zendaya” but Peter is still Peter 😭

In the theatre, not knowing when the speakers would max out, was so terrifying. Like already the movie on it’s own made me uncomfortable but the sound design was like they were targeting my animal brain.

How did Curry pull together so many talented people working on a $750k film? The sound, editing, lighting, acting, set production.

my favorite thing about this is the constant tension that we know something will absolutely go wrong but we just don't know when and what it will come

the reason obsession felt so real to me is there are many people i could see in the position of these characters do the exact same thing

They didn't want us to think Nikki was uncomfortable around Bear at first, they were giving hints that she might have been interested in him deep down, while his "friend" spent the whole movie sabotaging their relationship. All Bear had to do was be direct and honest, and pour out his feelings like in the first scene despite what his "Friend" told him... and ofc, not be a piece of shit horrible human being.

The actor who played Ian stated that the entire friend group was flawed in different ways. They were not honest with each other, nor were they honest with themselves, and, mixed with the existence of the Wish Willows, led all of them to their ruination.

Speaking about crickets -- this reminds me of when teachers would tell us to becareful when going camping or near the woods, if the insects go quiet all of a sudden, it means there is a predator!!! Nearby. So when insects are loud, y'all are safe

Because simps, BPD, and bad friends are real.
Liked the breakdown, boss.

If you strip away all the supernatural elements from this story, it’s fundamentally about a man drugging a girl to get her addicted so he can control her. While under the influence, she’s delirious and out of control; once sober, she’s overwhelmed with despair and wishes she were dead.

to be fair most movies and shows overuse music where they're just straight up dictating what you're supposed to feel without break.

Really cool seeing an editor's perspective on a movie made by another YouTuber.  Great video!

Man, I'm loving these breakdowns

Another amazing thing about this film, is that it's actually pretty subtle. Yet it's still scary. Just goes to show that you don't need a lot of flashy gore, stunts, or effects.

I watched a video that explained why comedy people make good horror movies. A lot of it comes down to set up, pause, pay off, but the pay off is a misdirect so you don't expect it. It's the same between both comedy and horror. So, every time you mentioned a misdirect it was Barker using the same skills that he has from comedy. It's interesting to see that they apply to the literal editing too.   This movie is getting praise form pretty much every angle and for good reason.

THE ENDING IS AMAZING

My girl said it wasn’t scary and she felt similarities. 😵‍💫 I felt uneasy lmao.

It's because it was made for the love of filmmaking not just to push a message, which is what modern Hollywood does now.

I absolutely love that first shot of 'Freaky Nikki' stood on the porch in complete darkness. It's so unnerving. 💀
