NOTE: Like drinking alcohol, doing "breakplay" is never safe. Please do not actually choke your partners. Roleplay breathplay AT MOST & use safewords. Better to not drink as well, but that's why we use "risk aware kink" as something to keep in mind. Just like doing extreme sports. There are risks to everything and some things are just NOT worth it. Be safe out there!
NOTE: I wanted to use Robert's video to have a larger conversation. I can't really know his inner thoughts but I'd like to believe he had good intentions making this video. The road to hell is paved in good intentions...So, with that said, I hope this opens a larger conversation about giving younger people tools.

We hate being exploited, coerced, and pressured for sex. We feel empowered to say no.

It is hard to feel sexually empowered when coercion, assault, and rape are prominent problems and very common.

When loving informed consent is equated with hating lust i think that is the patriarchy at work.

robert framing this topic as if ANY hesitation towards, discomfort with, or even dislike of sex is inherently christian and/or conservative is soooo dismissive and it's so frustrating to hear.

I feel like the popularity of heated rivalry is a good example that younger generations don't hate sex or lust, they just want consensual, non problematic sex. I think that many people have been victimized by our society's predatory view on sex. They want the ability to opt out not to demonize sex completely.

If your sexual liberation doesnt include freedom from sex (from ever having sex, from pressure to consenting to sex, etc) then its not sexual liberation (this is about consent but also about ace people)

A lot of my generation was groomed and exposed to sexual material online growing up, both directly and indirectly, and we are currently having our rights tested, there are multiple wars going on right now, prices are unmanageable for most of our generation, and I don't want to exploited and I don't want other people to be exploited either... I don't think majority of us thinks of sex like he thinks we do. I think we're just tired and stressed and we don't want to spend as much energy on something as potentially taxing as that. I know personally I'm aroace, so I will most likely NEVER be interested in sex, and I AM repulsed by it, so if I'm watching a show with somebody else and a sex scene comes on that I find too uncomfortable, I'm gonna want to turn it off because that's just a boundary for me personally, maybe I'll watch it later on my own time if it's pertinent to the plot, but I'm not going to force myself to watch it in front of someone else, because that's just super awkward for me, I don't see how that's so surprising or too much to ask for. I'm so tired of people putting Gen Z under a magnifying glass, as if we're not aware of what we're doing or why we do certain things. Most of Gen Z is adult, almost 30, the youngest is in their teens, we're such a diverse generation that it's really weird how people treat us like we're all the same or we struggle with the same issues for the same reasons, when that's just not the case. It's really, really annoying the amount of conversations that surround us, like we're lab rats they're studying, and this is how it's been ever since I was a kid and we were told we'd be the first generation to fully grow up with the internet. Well, now we're grown up, and they're scrutinizing the results as if they didn't know somethings would change lmao

this convo pmo cause it completely dismisses asexual people or people who have experienced sexual abuse and trauma, not necessarily talking about his video but just in general this conversation

(zillennial) i hate being told i'm being prudish when almost every award-winning movie celebrated in my lifetime was eventually revealed to sexually exploit or coerce a female lead in some way or another. i don't want to see sex or sexual scenes in movies not because i hate sex: i don't want to see sex scenes in movies because i know how the sausage is fucking made.

As a 24 years old, virgin, Gen Z. I’m not having sex until they make Pap smear more humane. I ain’t dealing with that shit ever.

It’s hard to feel lust when modern sexual politics only feel cold, transactional, and reductive

I think it's an issue for Robert to make his point by lumping together his points as criticisms of "gen z" as a whole. There's absolutely a difference between the anti-sex sentiments of the young religious right, incels/looksmaxxers, and leftists who are critical of the state of sex under patriarchy.

It doesn't make for a quick catchy video to include nuance unfortunately...

Puritanism and hedonism are two sides of the same coin, they are both coercive and destroy natural desire for sexual connection/expression. Through shame or disgust, respectively.

Thank you for clarifying the distinction between lust (objectification), attraction, and horniness. Also for pointing out that there is a difference between repressing a feeling and questioning a fantasy/kink/behavior/etc.

I feel like we are all just under constant pressure to feed the people farm. It's demoralizing and gross to see the same bullshit being packaged in the form pseudo-"liberation" on the left. And watching people buy into it. Especially when we don't bother to take care of kids or protect victims. Like who tf is going to go out and hook up under those circumstances. It's literally not safe to go outside. It's all about capitalism at the end of the day.

Also imagine being a teenager and listening to all these nasty crusty adults talking about how you aren't having enough sex. Ew.

A lot of Gen Z still live with their parents or live with roommates. There are a lot of financial hurdles that we need to make to feel safe to start having sex, and this economy isn’t helping. Also, a lot of people are discovering that they’re asexual. I know multiple asexual Gen Zers from college.

5:33 its VERY crazy that we decided children should be in school, not factories, but make an exception for entertainment factories. because thats what hollywood is. child actors coming out unharmed is the EXCEPTION! put those children back in school!!!!

literally 99% of child actors talk about how it ruins their lives. and we say 'but it was worth it for us to put a child through this for entertainment' ⚰️

I love how the majority of this generation is not giving into having sex just for the sake of it.

I was born in 1996 & I'm the only one of my friends in high school & university who had a great first time having sex. All of them had the guys treat them like fleshlights.

I'm a sex-repulsed ace girlie, and what i take issue with is 1) sex scenes that are portrayed as romantic but are actually assault or worse and 2) gratuitous sex scenes that don't move the plot forward in some way. This is so nuanced and complex, and i appreciate your thoughts on it.

Heavy emphasis on the education. Rewatching some old shows with outrageous plot lines (i.e. SA, abuse in general, non consent, racism, sexism, etc.) and dialogue completely ruins the show or movie for me. I don’t want to give any energy to stuff like that :/

what i think people like robert are forgetting is that many of us spent our teens and early twenties in lockdown… i think the kids are a bit traumatized tbh
