A thing to note is that serial killers typically collect trophies from their victims. When you asked about why all the dogs are from different breeds, my guess would be that his different pick of dog breeds might just be either his pattern of choosing a victim or just a writing decision to distinguish characters.

The whole "dogs/cats have short memories" thing is a myth fyi. They remember places, people, and other animals quite well; and do actually go through grief if their owner or another pet they've lived with dies.

26:26 with the whole “are the dogs the main goal?” question, i think its a bit more disturbing than that, being the dogs are trophies that the killer keeps after he murdered his victims.

When you talked about Imogene I'm wondering if she's the only one who somehow DOES remember, but either tried to convince the other dogs until she gave up (because why would they believe that) or she was truly too broken emotionally and mentally to act.

If like you this comic, there is another one like it made by the same people called Feral. Which is about cats dealing with a rabies outbreak like a zombie movie. It is still ongoing.

I really like this comic. What makes it so scariest is that this guy doesn't look like a monster. But that's what makes him so dangerous.

Why did they forget after they were rescued? It's like it's implying they have the memories of goldfish. Dogs remember a lot, and would definitely have PTSD after all that.

Rip my boy Victor.

If he’s trying to collect all the dog breeds then it’s like sick and horrific dog Pokémon

My issue with this is that dogs have a much better memory than that and can remember significant people and events for long periods.

Oliver and Company is the first thing that art style makes me think of.
Using a dog, real or fake, to lower someone's guard is a tactic predators do use sometimes. Targeting dog owners and then keeping the victim's dog as a trophy is sinister and I'm surprised I've never heard of that being a real thing. Going by the dog count, that piece of trash had at least 18 victims, and I'm positive that's not all of them.

Can’t believe they did backstories for all the dogs but not for rusty.

I find it so karmic that the fire department burned down his house for killing all those people and dogs

Though this comic over exaggerated dogs lack of memory. Which is not true at all, but God damn it is a very fascinating handicap to apply to horror movie survivors. Also the part that made me tear up was the ending. The dogs was able to discard their trauma and get to be friends again in a more positive setting. I was so dead sure Rusty and Roxanne was gonna die. Like when rusty knocked over the lamp to distract the murderer I thought he wouldn't leave the shed. Ugh imagine how sadder it would be if it was rusty that was later found skinned.

Yup, i teared up when earl sacrificed himself. Good boy restored.

For those who didn't understand. In the comic world dogs naturally have short memories (this isn't true irl). They didn't get drugged. In the first page Sophie and her real owner go to a normal vet to get regular shots (shots were picked because they are painful not because they have something bad). The scenes only purpose is to tell the reader about dogs short memory and to show that, no matter what, dogs will love their owners (it explains why the dogs, especially Earl, loved the killer and refused to believe that he was bad). At the end Sophie and Rusty definitely weren't drugged, yet they still didn't remember. That's just how dogs work in the comic (again not true irl)

Watched this while sitting on the couch with my dog who’s also missing one of his front legs. Annoyed him terribly by giving him a huge cuddle when I finished the video. Hug your dogs guys.

The gimmick of the dogs forgetting is weird because every dog that I’ve met has very good memory

All Dogs Go to Heaven is definitely a fitting example because the actor for the little girl was murdered by her uncle and or father before the movie was even done being made so they had to use an already recorded voice line of her and the voice actor for the dog was actually really crying. It is really sad
