So I set up this arc where they traveled to a half-dead volcano and found a concentration camp within it. A fire giant had enslaved a village of halflings and I had planned for them to lead a revolt and there would be this whole battle inspired by the beast titan throwing rocks at people in Attack on Titan.
The group met a duergar and convinced him that they were actually there to help the giant as footsoldiers or whatever. They the met the halfling that I intended for them to work through and he was about to be executed by the duergar.
The duergar called their bluff and said if they were there to help, then he tasked them with the execution. My brother, our fighter, a dwarf, simply said "okay!" and without hesitation, he described as he dragged the halfling to a pit of lava and dunked the halfling's head like an Oreo into milk. I asked if anyone else was gonna do anything and they all in unison just said "nope".
I had to walk away for about 10 minutes because this was relatively early on in the campaign and I was not very experienced as a DM and wasn't prepared for them to do that. So I had to completely rework the plan for them to complete their task.
It ended with them stealth infiltrating the slaver side of the camp, getting close to the fire giant, convincing the duergar that he should be in charge instead, the duergar getting killed by the fire giant in brutal fashion, and them killing the giant and then leaving quietly without really changing anything themselves.
One of the players said "we got bigger things to deal with than saving slaves. Let them save themselves."
It was infuriating from a DM standpoint but at the same time, they all had a ton of fun with it.

When we were fighting dragon near the cliff, that dragon dropped our paladin-barbarian from that cliff, and my artificer without second thought jumped from cliff to save her (I had Flight spell prepared).
When we were in forest made of giant mushrooms, and fight gone completely wrong, and near TPK, my fighter run deeper into forest, to force guardians of forest chase him and give party chance of escaping.
We found a place, where our enemy kept demigod, using him as a battery for portal, and my necromancer took place of demigod, to save him and allow party to go into portal.
