I keep coming back to Leptirica. It's amazing how much comedy is also inserted in but the movie works even better because of that.

Rip to the legend Đorđe Kadijević he just passed away like a month ago. He was out here making podcasts and interviews till the very end, and I think he was planning on making Leptirica 2 even.

The Lighthouse is my favorite movie of all time. Robert Eggers’ filmography is unbelievably phenomenal considering how few feature films he’s done so far. I am so excited for Werwulf!

Robert Eggers is one of my favourite movie makers of all time.

Thus far, "The Northman" might be my favourite film of his.

That one, or "The Lighthouse".

I miss the old Yugoslavic horror cinematography. Strangler vs Strangler, Full moon over the Belgrade, Sacred place, Leptirica (butterfly), the Meeting Point etc.

As a Ukrainian, I was pleasently surprised that he not only knows our films, and also likes them very much. Also we have an amazingly beautiful film from 1964 called Зачарована Десна (Zacharovana Desna - The Enchanted Desna) by Yulia Solnceva.

There is one piece of literature that I particularly like and which lends itself perfectly to the way Robert Eggers goes about making movies. It is Gustav Meyrink's "The Golem", a classically modern, culturally and historically rich, psychoanalytically rich, very uneery and uncanny folklore tale told by a very interesting and unreliable narrator. To me, personally, it is as atmospherically dense and deep in terms of characterisation as Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment", but deeper embedded in folklore mythology. I cannot recommend reading this novel enough. Especially to fans of Robert Eggers and to the man himself. Should Eggers ever take on adaptating Meyrink to the big screen, I will be in immediate ecstasy with anticipation. It would be a dream come true!
