G1 Bumblebee voice actor Dan Gilvezan has shared a rumor that the recently-released Optimus Prime Awakening short may in fact be a prequel to a new Youtube animated series coming next year in 2027.

The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Reveals Peter Cullen’s Final Optimus Prime Performance.“The short isn’t simply being presented as a traditional post-credits scene, either. Optimus Prime: Awakening is described as a fully realized 12-minute cinematic event created as a love letter to the Transformers community and to Cullen.

I think everyone needs to remember awakening was never meant to be a send off, it just was, unfortunatley, Peter Cullens last role as prime

The CEO of hasbro must be Unicron. He only wants to destroy us.

Hasbro “don’t fuck up transformers” challenge (impossible) (gone horribly wrong)

I’m so upset Dan wasn’t reprised as Bumblebee.

Huge missed opportunity. He deserved to be there alongside Peter and Frank in Peter's final performance...

While there may some good Peter Cullen voice impressionists in their own right, it won't be the same without the actual Peter Cullen.

Peter's passing is something different than other actors/actresses passing. and the timing of his passing to the 40th anniversary.

That short started production before Peter Cullen passed, so although it was originally supposed to be a teaser for an upcoming series, it was turned into a tribute when Cullen passed away probably mid-way through production

Optimus Prime is a fierce, unrelenting force of good. A protector, a lover of peace.

But to me, the short felt like it damaged who Optimus Prime is supposed to be.

The short felt like it was trying to tell Optimus that him being a protector is not important, and that evil will come again anyway.

But Optimus Prime never yields to evil, that's what makes him great. He loves peace, but he never allows evil to push and prod his firm line. It is non-negotionable.

A warrior in the garden.

But that short was trying to punish him for his sense of responsibility.

Remember, the only reason Prowl didn't talk at all in the movie was because they didn't want to pay Michael Bell.

I literally had someone in another vid being butthurt just coz I don’t like Awakening. And I stand by my opinion that Awakening for me could’ve been better. But the voice performances from Peter and Frank were great and the animation looks great

The thing is, the new B did a pretty great job. He sounded very brooding and edgy which fit that version of the character

I want Dan back as Bumblebee

I'm most annoyed by them using cheaper talent and not using Dan because he's been in recent Transformers stuff. If they could use him for that table read in 2024, why can't they bring him back?

Like Gregg Berger is Grimlock, Dan is Bumblebee.

I miss Dan man, he started what became the most popular character and he’s been left behind.

He’s such a good take on it too, so chill and content with life
