The first thing Caleb Flynn's defense asked Alleigha Botner on cross-examination wasn't about Caleb. It was about what she typed into Google in the three days after Ashley Flynn was killed. She confirmed every search. One of them was her own name.

Part three of our panel on the Botner testimony with Robin Dreeke, former head of the FBI's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, and Jennifer Coffindaffer, retired FBI special agent. For two days the prosecution used her to read Caleb's "kill her" and "hire someone" messages to the jury. Then defense attorney Emily Smith stood up, and in under an hour the state's witness became the story.

Clip one is the searches. Clip two is the defense getting her to agree there are more messages in the 107,000 where she wished Ashley gone, and then asking whether she believed Caleb meant it. Her answer: "I don't think he could ever be capable of doing something like that." Clip three is how the defense closed: why she went to Ashley's parents' house the morning of the murder ("I didn't want to look suspicious"), why she told no one about her suspicions for days, and what police never did, which is search her apartment or her car, take her DNA or prints, charge her, or offer her a deal.

Caleb Flynn is charged with aggravated murder in Ashley's February 16, 2026 shooting; prosecutors say he staged a break-in. The panel's question is the one the jury took home: did investigators clear her, or did they never look?
