This video fucking sucks lmfao. Very outdated and half-misinformed. Points kinda still stand tho

I personally think ppl underestimated the potential male vtubers have. As a girl who is in some otome game and anime fandoms I can say there's a LOT of girls who enjoy husbandos as much as men enjoy waifus
And that shows with Luxiem. They been doing pretty well since their debut being only 2 months ago

As someone who follows most of Niji boys (and also watch Holostars), I can say that the formula why Niji boys become so popular is that they are also appealing for the male audiences, who are the biggest markets for vtubers, this is something that Holostars doesnt have.. You have said about Kuzuha, but tbh the other Niji boys are exactly having the similar formula... Kanae for example, he's also an APEX predator like Kuzuha, however he's like the calm version of Kuzuha so male audiences who prefer calmer APEX streamer go to Kanae instead (he's already in 900K subs btw, this year he's projected to be the 2nd male Nijisanji to reach 1 mil subs after Kuzuha)... And while Kuzuha & Kanae are predator in APEX, another Niji boy, Fuwa Minato, is a Godly player in Splatoon, he's the only Nijisanji liver who is able to join X rank in Splatoon (the highest rank, consist of only the best 500 players cmiiw), and like Kuzuha, Fuwa is a funny guy and very talkactive in every streams hence his male audiences are entertained... Another example is Kagami Hayato, he's not a pro gamer like any other Niji boys, but he's a pro singer, he likes to sing death metal songs (he is a vocalist for a rock band irl), well his design is so female audiences bait, but his ability to sing hardcore rock songs makes him gained a lot of male audiences

In the other hand, Holostars is marketed as idols, in Japan there's this stereotype that male idols are only for female audiences, and while irl male idols can be super popular in Japan (examples are Arashi, King & Prince, Ensemble Stars, etc), but Holostars cant be as popular as those other male idols because vtuber community is dominated by male audiences, and the only two Holo boys who can gain male audiences are Astel (because of his APEX skill) and Roberu (because he's funny and does a lot of collab including with Niji boys), and even for that their market in Japan (and now also in EN with Luxiem) is already dominated by Niji boys already... Astel might be a skillful APEX player but he's not funny like Kuzuha hence the male audiences prefer to watch Kuzuha, and Roberu might be funny but a bunch of Niji boys are also funny guys so the male JP audiences go to Niji boys instead

It seems that male VTubers (especially EN) are in the position where they must create their own demand.  When Luxiem debuted, as a long time Niji viewer, I saw the names in EN chat undergo a massive shift.  Suddenly it was full of people with names like "Sarah Eveland", "MissUnderstood" and "ShadowKitten20XX" screaming shit like "Choke me harder daddy" at Vox or Ike, etc.  I was watching my own female counterparts, who said the same ridiculous shit I would say but the the genders were reversed.  They were outing themselves at absurd rates and I was bizarrely really happy to see them, as a bystander.  I consider it a success that we've grown to the extent that a female audience of that size can come in and take some ownership.

VTubing is hitting critical mass, much like anime did several decades ago.  Take any niche male-associated hobby perceived as lame, and scale it large enough, and a female audience will occur organically, because if it's widely engaged in, most of the detracting obstacles can finally shift loose.

Nijisanji EN just debuted 10 boy sand not only have they appealed to male viewers, they have made more women watch Vtubers. They're insanely popular.

Y'all if you're reading this, Nijisanji just debuted 2 male groups for EN!
And they deserve their fast growth and the love and support they get ❤

I agree with the video so much. The day will soon come when male vtubers will hit a peak in the vtuber community as a whole.
But recently, during the week NIjisanji EN's own male vtubers debuted there was a quiet surge in the demand for male vtubers. Some friends reached out to me asking if there are any other male vtubers besides those in Luxiem and the other branches of Nijisanji. So I went on a search and found that there are male vtubers who have a decent audience but no one outside that audience talks about them.

Some male vtubers marketed themselves on a certain platform and due to that, they garnered the audience they have today. Kenji is an example, he is a male vtuber who streams on twitch and he uploads videos on his yt channel regularly, and has gained decent views. There's also Shxtou (shoto) who also streams on twitch, and he's quite popular on tiktok from what I've seen. Although both are not at the same level of popularity as Kuzuha (quite far in-fact, both streamers I mentioned only have around 50-70k followers on twitch), there are male vtubers out there. But they will only be found to those who put effort to look for them.

I hope with Luxiem's recent debut that male vtubers start getting more attention. The audience looking for male vtubers is starting to grow. We'll just have to wait for the moment it happens.

Then Luxiem came.... I honestly has been prioritizing the boys stream  nowadays than the girls I simp for 2 years...

I feel like Luxiem would be like the beginning where male vtuber will start becoming popular and increase in demand. just from my opinion. its just like those time when hololive debuted the 'first EN gen' and how big the reaction was from the public and EN vtubers become so popular. Luxiem is technically the 'first Male EN' generation that is debuted under a big company. and the reaction was massive too. those guys got almost 300k in just 2 months now, and some of the member also already collab with ironmouse. Luxiem is doing so well in short amount of time. Even the 2nd male gen Noctyx got a lot of support with like 50k live viewers in their debut. Nijisanji really did a good decision to debut a Male EN and I think they are gonna debut more male vtubers in the future.

As a male, you don't need to have a good looking model to stand out.

You can literally just draw a simple looking rabbit with alcohol and voila, you are now a charming son of a gun that I love listening to.

At the current rate if Cover does not do anything fast, Anycolor will just dominate the Western English speaking male Vtuber market. Their male talents are very impressive

I think no matter if you're a Vtuber or a normal streamer, if you're a male, the only thing that matters much is your content and how you mould your personality within it.

the NijiEN boys is proof that "male vtubing" shouldnt be any different from "female vtubing"
they're hot/cute? check
they're funny? yes
they're relatable? heck yeah
how is that any different from the girls?

could the secret just be the EN market? the key similarity between the previous guy streamers were that they were all marketed towards JP or ID
NijiEN being the first major EN male wave was the secret formula all along

I discovered Vox Akuma and Luca the other day

Because the majority of the vtuber audience are straight men so naturally, the companies cater to these people with kawaii waifus

i think this has something to do with language barriers too. we've had holostars for years, but because there are many vtuber fans from outside japanーnot all of us understand the language. now, since luxiem came out, many independent male envtubers have started to appear.

bc they’re independent, they are not supervised by big companies—so it might took a quite time to get people's attention. when playing the same game, people tend to be interested in watching channels that are already popular so it is very difficult for an independent male vtuber to develop.

wow i actually made an essay for this.

I watch a handful of non-agency male Vtubers. They’re awesome. They’re entertaining. They just don’t have much of an audience, probably because there’s not enough people who want to watch male Vtubers or haven’t discovered them. Buuuttt they are slowly growing.

As a male vtuber, I will say I’ll be ready for the male vtuber revolution

To me just being entertaining is all I need no matter what gender, it's all about the fun, without that I just don't do anything.

Kamiya Juu from the PHVTuber community had cracked the code! Out of a lot of male presenting indie vtubers, he reached 200k on YT!
