Nah bro my first VTuber was male, his name was Annoying Orange

Another advice: Have a clip channel like this one. Let's be real, the majority of vtuber fans got their first introduction to vtubing thanks to clippers.
And this is something that was missing for Randon, a dedicated clip channel.

He's 100% right. Especially about the untapped potential to convert non VTuber watchers and dislikers into viewers as a male VTuber. That really works.

I'm amazed at both your understanding and patience about this topic, glad that bad experiences didn't sour your opinion on the fanbase as a whole

Been trying out vtubing on another account. And as a dude, I can back up what randon is saying about capturing ppl who don’t normally watch vtubers.

I'm a Hololive andy, I watched cute anime girls playing games. I watched for 2 years before even knowing there WAS a male branch. A male branch I didn't check out because I can't understand Japanese. Then there was an English-speaking group. And none of them clicked, I watched their debuts for the novelty. Except one. One who for seemed a bit older than his gen-mates. And that was my hook.
I've been in the internet space for a while, but I am progressively getting older, and a lot of streamers are further and further apart from my interests and have fewer shared memories of early internet etc. This silver haired fox was more my speed. He told stories, and I had never felt like I could relate to a streamer more in my life. Hope he's doing well.

Most male vtubers have pretty anime boy avatars like from an otome game. Thar's what women want, not men.

Men want to listen to pretty girls or wise men. A wizard, king, etc manly vtuber may resonate with men more.

Or you know an ork
Waaaagh

"a LOT
of experience since then"

I have had a variety channel for years and I have seen like no growth. It’s only when I hyper fixate on one topic did I see some growth but then I moved onto something else or didn’t stream for months. This hasn’t been a problem because being a vtuber is just a hobby and I don’t care about growth. But what you are saying is absolutely correct if you focus on one type of content you can start to see more views and when I did see more people in my chat they had no idea what Vtubers were.

"Иноагента Орка-подкастера не существует, он не может тебе навредить"
Иноагент Орк-подкастер:

all really good takes. Vedal was the first Vtuber I ever tuned into watching, he's genuinely a really entertaining streamer

the female vtubers vs male vtubers stuff remind me of the NBA vs WNBA

You absolutely hit the nail on the head there. The vtuber market is way too oversaturated with vtubers doing the same thing, so in order for someone new to grow they have to stand out. This is why vtubers who tend explode in popularity are also the ones who appeal to an audience outside of the core vtuber base. After all, why would content consumers check out a tiny baby vtuber when there's already a big established successful vtuber doing the same thing? Great video btw!

LMAO that last minute tangent about /vt/ 😂
It’s weirdly refreshing to hear him basically admit “yeah I know I was public enemy #1 to a bunch of schizos for a few months; what of it?”

You just became the first male vtuber I ever hit the subscribe button. The bias wasn't entirely on me, but on the algorithm: youtube simply doesn't show me male vtuber recommendations very often. Oddly, you did show up.

This popped up randomly and holy shit, you are so well spoken, articulate and grounded, it was refreshing to hear

Real talk, this a great advice for content creators in general. Find your niche, stick with it until the viewers start watching YOU instade of the content, and after that you can start to think in diversify the content that you offer. Great advice Orc Sir.

Randon always has a good perspective on things, especially when it comes to finding a niche and playing to it, although there is something to be said about becoming a VTuber and really embracing it, and just letting those pure emotions come through.

One of my favorite Vtubers started by streaming a great but niche zombie survival game, and his debut stream was a display of how elated he was to be there. It made a big impression on me, for sure.

Guilty as charged. I didn't follow much of the vtubing scene and I didn't have an oshi, until this Florida Orc rolled around and dished out his unhinged zatsus. Now I'm a subscriber.
