it really resonated with me when Geega said  "🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿". she was so brave for that i have the upmost respect

To be fair, not everyone who's watching VTubers watches them live. I just like clips and VODs, it's nice being able to start and stop as I want. People like me will jump into a live stream if it's some major thing, because a lot of content just isn't our shtick.

As a Kpop stan lets just say I didn't sleep that day. I was making sure Mysta got his Million views. I was so happy when it actually hit. I'm so glad us Mystakes were able to achieve that feat.

God do I know it. I was in the trenches when Holostars debuted in JP & poor Miyabi had to go through hell & back physically & mentally & all I could do was support him from the sidelines

Merry is a wealth of knowledge and would love to see him have these conversations with the General again! It was such a great impromptu collab.

Not gonna lie. I only learned you were VTuber when VShojo announced you joining them. Like, I followed you on Twitter for so long thinking you were just one of those funny roleplayers, and now I've learned you have this channel. This has been a ride of discovery.

I really dig the vibe of Geega's community and I've never stopped to think that it's because she's worked to cultivate it. Gonna have to thank her for that the next time I can catch her streaming.

I think the only male Vtuber I remember from way back then that people cared about was Winning Son. Seeing Pikamee go collab with him while most of Hololive didn't was really eye opening on how much Japan really hated the mixing. It is better now but damn

"Male vtubers are the WNBA"

As a male that intends to one day debut as a Vtuber, I really appreciate the insight into some of the history behind the male side of Vtubing. I agree that things definitely seem to be picking up for male Vtubers here in the west with independent and corporate male Vtubers debuting more and more and many of them finding all manner of success. Merry, among others, has certainly been quite an inspiration for me for sure (especially with what he's doing now with Astraline), and I love seeing many female Vtubers also being super supportive of the male side as well.

I appreciate the characterization of "lol, lmao" messages as being "wholesome", since I am a simple minded man and those are my most common contributions to any stream chat.

Even in JP male vtubers are still finding it hard at times. Kuzuha and Kanae are an exception and they're an example of what GEEGA meant when she said their demo hasnt been hit yet. Those 2 found their audience and target demo and they hit it square in the head. Even Shibuya Hals viewership is very wishy washy depending on what game he plays despite being one of the most recognizable name these days and often holding bit events frequently you'd think he of all people would have a consistent fanbase

TBH it was because of how often male vtubers were made fun of that I was like "You know... Maybe I'll just stick to being a vtuber fan." But this vid is pretty encouraging.

People pouring in during graduation isn't surprising when you see real world funerals.  Loads of people show up to pretend they cared about someone they hadn't remotely interacted with in a decade or longer.

Honestly if I were streaming as a character and someone claimed me to be ugly IRL, there is only one answer "You forgot fat:."

Merry is a huge example in making "content before costume". Merry made all sorts of YouTube comic animations for years before his VTuber debut, his success isn't in personal performance but instead product performance. His chat are his subscribers, being known before being seen. I think that, so long as there's one thing you're good at, no matter what it is, just do that while wearing the costume of a VTuber character, and you'll succeed. If all you've got is the costume and no essential activity, nobody just wants to chat to an empty persona. That's what male VTubers need I feel, an activity as their streaming foundation, not per say the streaming itself. I think corporate VTubers don't understand this, they look cool and sexy, and have about as much white bread in them as a toaster, too quickly burnt out and thrown away. No, you need to cook and craft first. There's no fast recipe to success.

Male Vtubers made major numbers even before Luxiem. JP male Niji were the reason the EN side was even created.

13:31 as a teenager I can confirm that almost every single crackhead in my school would do this just bc they have no parents or siblings (at least ones that wouldn't spank them or be around them) to complain to

OMG. So I'm just in the process of starting out as a male vtuber. Came for the advice, stayed for the absolute banter.   You were both funny as heck, and it's relatable that everyone just started. And even though the industry is 3 years old, that's still basically a baby.  There's still plenty of opportunities to revolutionize vtubing and take it to the next level.   I needed that.  So thanks a lot :).

As a male (indie) Vtuber for the past couple of years, it's especially hard to get in on the ground floor when it comes to models. Most of the free models, or cheaper models are almost always going to be female models, and those that are male, look like dog-water. It's often just easier to snag a female model and hope for the best, and it almost always has negative returns on a creator's growth. Some viewers are okay with a female vtuber model voiced by a dude, and some are immediately turned off. I learned to accept the fact that it would take way too long to afford a decent male model, and just embraced the cringe, and it's been a long, slow, brutal journey every step of the way. At this point, I don't really think I can separate myself from the cringy catgirl co-op nature of my brand.
