basically she stands for nothing but profit

How Taylor went from fighting the 🍊 man to staying silent when they used her music because it benefits her sales and numbers… this era was the epitome greedy capitalist

ohmygoddddd it feels so good to see another swiftie who dislikes this album and explains why in such a good way. i think cancelled was the hardest track for me because i thought it was going to be talking about a showgirls vegas revue getting cancelled as an allegory for the eras tour ending. because i thought, surely, the most famous woman alive is not oblivious enough to actually write a song about being cancelled online.

sadly. i was wrong. i loved the aesthetic and promo images SO MUCH it was so hard to be so let down by the album.

I hate showgirl, gave it 2 full listens and never again, it feels empty, shallow and out of touch

they could've done soo much with the showgirl aesthetic, sonically and lyrically, and I was so insanely disappointed by how boring and basic (in a bad way) it was.

It literally ruined all the other taylor swift songs for me i was the biggest die hard fan for years now i can barely listen to her after this album

I agree, but in regards to the women attacking lyrics, I think that it’s not really out of character for her. I do not agree that she has prided herself in supporting other women. I think she used to talk about it a lot but I never really saw her words be true to her actions anyway.

I bet one day she's gonna come out and say it was all satire 😅😂

Despite being a global super star she's not really engaged with the culture outside of US and relied on US cultural hegemony to sell her work and that really showed this time

when i listened to showgirl (the track) at the end of my first listen I was like taylor.....girl.... so glad you featured sab but she ATE YOU DOWN. like her vocal control and range is just miles above and it showed up the showgirl on her own album

Me and my mom were sitting on the couch watching ET News, and they were going over clips of some of the album tracks and lyrics. We turned slowly to each other in disbelief and then burst out laughing. It’s soooo bad! How 4 million copies of this record were sold in a week is a mystery to me!

Taylor is a billionaire, she’s loyal to profit.  Even during her lover and 1989 eras, her politics felt performative and you can feel the performatism in some of her songs during the lover era or when she talks about her “girl squad” in the 1989 eras.  She never talks about the girl squad after 1989 and she never talks about gay rights after lover.  And it’s ironic she rebranded as a feminist during the 1989 eras when she made it her mission to tear another woman (katy perry) down during that era.  It’s clear those politics are only there to make her look good and market her.  They were there for her brand, not because they are truly reflective of any deeper political opinions she truly has.  Another example is her having white supremacist coded merchandise scandal with the double lightning bolts.  Instead of responding to it she just posted some pictures of herself with some black backup dancers.  She doesn’t actually want to make it clear what her politics are.  She wants the gay community, and the black community’s purchasing power.  She wants them to continue buying her stuff and streaming her songs clearly, but she doesn’t actually care about racism or homophobia or those issues as much as her fans want to believe.  And if anything she’s been keeping more and more silent on those issues to get the conservative tradwife community to buy and stream her music too.

i was a top 0.5% taylor swift listener last year and i still hated this album so bad i haven't willingly listened to any song from it in months. I listened to it once when it came out and thought, what the fuck. And then one month later i decided to listen to it again to see if it was truly as bad as i remembered, and it was.

As an eldest daughter syndrome suffer I really wanted Eldest Daughter to be a really good and cool and relatable song to claim as my own

She went from No deal, the 1950s shit they want from me to a driveway with a basketball hoop pretty fasttt

This album redefined second hand embarrassment for me. She is one of the most popular, successful and influential women in the world and yet she sounds like clueless, whining teenager.
I’ve said this before: Re-recording her albums might have made sense financially, but it was the artistic equivalent of eating puke. You can only listen to yourself so much until your voice becomes poison. It also doesn’t help that billionaires are generally out of touch with reality.
I can’t help but wonder how big her ego has gotten. BRAT is so superior to life of a showgirl that I can’t believe her team didn’t warn her  about drawing attention to it and inviting comparisons
Her songs are bland, predictable and uninspired. There is nothing she said in her latest album that she hasn’t said before (and better).
Taylor Swift was never known for great vocals, high quality production or revolutionary artistry (her work was a hit because people found it relatable and she is great at business), but I never expected her to put out an album this bad.

The album was cringe because for one, Taylor needs to take a break. She doesn't need to keep releasing album after album. Secondly, she's been rushing, throwing out albums to capitalize on her relationship with Travis Kelce. Given her past failed relationships. You think she would learn to slow down with throwing out songs about her relationships. Give it time to grow. Yet, no matter how cringe is she. People will still buy her albums. Even if the album is all about trees 🤦🙄 She wants to come after Travis Kelce's ex but she and her 23 year old fans wants to play the victim every time someone hits back at her

Taylor is not a feminist because she believes in the equality and  political freedom of women. Shes a feminist because she happens to be a woman herself

10:54 I’m so mad that eldest daughter is such a god awful song because the bridge made me tear up

I agree with everything this video has to say, and it feels so good seeing someone else feel really irked by Wi$h Li$t… Another aspect of it that annoyed the hell out of me from first listen was the “cosplaying as middle class suburban mom”. Yes, the whole block will look like you and Travis, Taylor, because your house alone will be bigger than a whole block. And no, you don’t want a driveway with a basketball hoop because you can have the entire basketball court in your premises. You’re a billionaire, he’s a multimillionaire. Stop, please.

(Also, for someone who titled herself as a proud cat lady, she was weirdly condescending to people who are child free and only want to have pets…)
