Someone on Threads or Twitter (I forgot which one) said Taylor could write a song that goes, “I was a mess, he was the janitor” then someone else replied to that saying, “Let’s not give her any ideas she won’t pay you for.”
I legit have not stopped laughing since. The accuracy 💀
Todd in the Shadows has mentioned it, and I agree; Taylor is at her best when her music isn't about herself. Her most praised albums (Folklore and Evermore) are about other people, and her most hated song is literally called ME!
Knowing she wrote Enchanted for a guy she just had a meet cute/crush on but the songs about her literal HUSBAND being a step above trash is wild to me.
She’s becoming like Drake where she just puts out albums with severely varying levels of quality. Girl you’re a billionaire take a year off or something. It’s okay
I fully support ppl liking her music, subjective tastes etc, but I need her fans to stop trying gaslighting me into thinking she's this genius lyricist. like seriously
I will die on that hill ; Taylor using Ophelia's story to essentially say "he picked me so I didn't end up k-wording myself" is incredibly reductive of her whole descent into madness because of the position of women in society/in the play, and I will never let that one slide.
I saw swifties on twitter say the album is bad on purpose. Taylor is trying to make a point by releasing terrible music because she's a mastermind and playing her fans and haters. I can't believe the level of delusion that runs in that fandom
Im glad it’s finally ok to clown on her bad lyrics without getting accused of hating them just because she’s a woman. Im a woman and a deeply annoying feminist, it’s ok to criticize bad art even if it’s made by women 🤦♀️
what's sad about this to me is it paints Taylor as someone who, despite having legions of fans, is so deeply insecure about herself that she NEEDED Travis's validation to justify her own existence. I'm happy they found each other but girl. Get off the floor. Love yourself the way Travis apparently does. Also get some therapy it's not like you can't afford it
Even her clapbacks to the ~haters~ are so tone deaf. Like, people don't dislike you because you're in love or because you can't dance. We dislike you because you're a billionaire that doesn't use her massive platform for anything that matters
Ironically, her music now feels more "teenaged" than her actual teenage work ever did. Like Speak Now, Fearless, songs like Safe and Sound from the Hunger Games, were so much better than what she's doing now as a woman who's almost 40.
Her saying she doesn't care about the negative reviews to her albums is hilarious when you consider just how many of her songs are about "I don't care about my haters". Like girl don't pretend, we know you're obsessed
