The game needed a better writer. That's the inherent issue.

The biggest fumble is not letting Peter switch freely between symbiote and regular. Miles has invisibility on up dpad, Peter has nothing. It was RIGHT THERE

One of Venom's funnest gimmicks during his villain days was that he bypassed the spidey sense. And would abuse that to mess with peter and ambush him at any time, forcing him to feel paranoid. I cannot believe that wasnt implemented in this game. I was so ready to be minding my own business swinging around and getting sucker punched into a rooftop and triggering a boss fight that you would have to survive or escape. Such missed potential .

In regards to Miles, I think he suffers from what the entire game and dialogue suffers from: they're all written to be so polished and polite. There's no edge to any of the characters and the dialogue/characters lack any personality, to the point where the characters suffer completely

Miles was so much cooler in his standalone game because the venom power was one resource with multiple applications, but in Spider-Man 2 it’s just four ability slots. The electricity feels less like one overall power with multiple different uses and more like 4 separate abilities that just look the same

"Peter complains about Spider-Man like a falling man complains about gravity" is literally the best sentence I've heard to describe Spider-Man I've heard in my 25 years of living

The funniest part of "the Symbiote making Peter evil" is that it doesn't 😭 like that's a retcon from SMTAS. NOBODY wants to do the "evil Symbiote" in an interesting way either. You can make the Symbiote affect Peters emotions, but do it where it's making Peter more aggressive because that's how Peter actually thinks. It's bringing out Peters actual rage and bitterness because it's trying to help Peter. The Symbiote loves Peter in a kinda creepy way. And thinks it's helping, instead of just a "make spider-man angry" button. Insomniac doesn't even do that tho, Peter never talks about his own emotions or anger and faces no repercussions

why is no one mentioning MJ taking down an entire army of trained professional guards with a fucking stun gun and Peter losing all IQ by letting the love of his life sneak into a symbiote nest with nothing but said stun gun???

When i first beat the game i was like why the heck are symbiotes still here if we just cured everyone and then i realized that i had a few more nests left and did them thinking that would remove symbiotes from crimes but i was wrong

The screams from his enemies alone from "silent takedowns" from the web should alert all thugs

It wasn't even over stuffed, it's just that they took 5hrs to give Peter the black suit and spent 10hrs with Kraven and 2 with Venom. If they gave Peter the black suit after 2 hrs and made Venom the main villain after 7hrs it woulda been perfrct

If you compare the open world stuff to the first game it’s completely night and day, like they didn’t even try for the sequel. The crimes felt so much more engaging and varied and the amount of challenges and different activities is astounding.
And all for a cheaper price at release too.

I feel like the map sucks because 90% of the buildings are just a slightly different square.  The Arkham Games, Knight especially, always had tons of Landmark building with different shapes and sizes that made Gliding/Grappling across them interesting.

I still can't believe the game's ending. You just can't end Peter's story by having him abandon his responsibilities. It's like if Tobey's second Spider-Man movie ended when he quits being Spider-Man and things go well for him. Could you make a good story out of that? Maybe, but it's better to give a complete story where that decision has consequences for him.

Considering the tag line was “Be Greater Together.” I was really surprised there wasn’t any dual abilities, like in the intro Sandman fight where Peter and Miles combine the spider arms with the venom ability, I mean they showed it but we never got to do it.
For example if a crime in progress was flagged as a “High threat” and both characters were guaranteed to attend, could have a button combination if you’re playing as Miles where Peter does a web blossom and Miles does a quick venom burst to recreate a version of taser webbing

i think this game suffered from the same thing as rami's 3rd spider-man film, it tried to shove to much into the story all at once, i think if they focused on either a 'kraven's last hunt' story or a story more fleshed out venom story, it would have been ALOT better then what we got

The biggest fumble was cutting the four major bosses in the third act.
We were originally going to fight the Venom's Offsprings: Phage, Lasher, Agony, and Riot

Shocked when i saw how little views this has compared to the quality, amazing job.

It was a hard time being a Spiderman 2 truther during the game awards era.

The story of the game feels like it was written by someone that was a huge fan of the first game and wanted to emulate it's style instead of that style emerging from trying to make a good spiderman story. Like homer simpson stopped being a parody of sitcom dads and now just is homer simpson this stopped feeling like a spider-man story and just became a "spiderman ps4 story".

People also seemed to forget the rumors before it's release that it was originally was going to be 2 games focused on Kraven and Venom and it got shortened down into what we got.
