Here in Australia, we too have the right to bare arms. We are simply advised to wear sunscreen lotion.

Every single word he says is absolutely spot on. Every single word. Thank goodness we leave in a country without guns.

it is soooo fun to see that 10% he talked about commenting here.

Australia isn't "no guns."
Australians are still allowed to own firearms. It's just highly regulated.
It went by fast because it's been split in half.
You need to watch part 2 pretty quickly, I don't know why some people don't watch them together.
Like any comedian, he'll often tie things said earlier in toward the end, and I've seen a few reactors just totally miss things or not understand something because they've already forgotten details of part 1.

We other countries have mental cases too ... we just prefer them to be unarmed.

I’m Australian, born in 1990, and I remember my parents talking about having to give their gun back. That was the first time I even knew guns weren’t just something in a movie…

I remember thinking as a 6 year old, ‘wow, I didn’t know guns were ‘real’ and boy am I glad everyone has to give them back’. I felt scared and then INSTANTLY felt safer, and I have felt SAFER, EVER SINCE!

It is the one thing I am proudest about in Australia, our lack of gun violence… maybe that’s because it was one of my very first memories, ever.

I got to be blessed enough, to worry about guns for a whole 5 seconds when I realised they were ‘real’ and then feel safe right away… American kids don’t get that, they just get a national history of school shootings and now participate in active shooter drills out of necessity. Breaks my heart honestly 😢

True story.  We we're Airbnb-ing a room in our house in rural Australia several years ago.  A woman from Texas stayed for a few days, but she had lived in Australia for 6 years or so by that time.  She told us that back in Texas everyone she knew owned a gun; she owned a gun; no-one questioned that the right thing to do was to own a gun.  She emigrated to Australia with that attitude, but.... after 6 years living in a country where most people did not own a gun, where most people saw no need to own a gun, where most people think that the idea of everyone owning a gun is INSANE, she came around.  After experiencing living in a country where there were few guns and everyone felt safe (ok, relatively, let's not get sidetracked), she too, saw the insanity of the American gun situation.  She even tried to communicate that new-found awareness to friends and family back in Texas.

Not surprisingly, they all thought she'd gone nuts.  They thought she was the insane one.

31 year old Aussie here and I can confidently say I haven't even see anyone in Australia hold or shoot a gun.
I have obviously seen rifles, shotguns and handguns but never seen one held or shot; this includes police officers and the like.

I have a 5 year old son who I have never once, not ONCE worried about him going to school and being shot, killed or in an enviornment where it 'could' happen.
I also feel confident to say there would be very, very small portion of Americans who couldn't say the same, which is kind of sad.

As others have said, guns aren't banned in Australia, there's just very strict regulations preventing ownership and use; which all boils down to needing a valid reason to have one, to which 'protection' is not one.

My husband grew up in a rural area & had rifles when he was in his teens.  In 1996 when the government introduced firearms restriction he simply registered his rifles & applied for a firearms licence.  He had to prove he knew how to safely handle firearms, did not have any serious criminal convictions or mental conditions & he had safe storage for his firearms.  He also had to show he had a genuine reason for having a firearm & personal protection was not an approved reason.  So guns are not banned in Australia but their possession is regulated & most Australians agree with the firearms legislation.  Where we live you can leave your house unlocked without fear of being robbed or assaulted.  Our children attend school without any fear of shootings.  We have visited the US & while we enjoyed our holidays we did notice people did seem to be concerned about the possibility of being assaulted or having their privacy invaded.

you need to watch part 2

Kiwi here. We've had reasonably strict gun laws forever, but after ONE mass shooting in 2019 (against a religious MINORITY...), it took us less than a month to ban all semi-auto and assault guns, with fair trade-in compensation that ~80% supported. Opponents would have been hardcore enthusiasts and most would've forgotten all about it at this point. Farmers and hunters need rifles. The military needs to be well-armed. That's it. Not even our cops carry them

No point watching this without part 2.

This puts things into perspective: Here is the most unfortunate fact I know. In April 2015 American cops killed more in just that 1 month , than the UK cops had killed in 100 YEARS. A fkn century. no joke, that happened. insane difference.

It's a very similar story in the UK, in 1996 as well, there was the Dunblane massacre where 16 5 year olds and a teacher were killed, and by 1997 private ownership of handguns was banned (except for Northern Ireland). There's only been one spree shooting since in 2010.

Must watch Part 2. ....must.

Part 2 ties it all together.

Here in Australia we were encouraged to report anyone you know that has or had a gun. That’s what eventually ensured all guns were handed in. The government also paid the owner a reasonable amount for their guns once handed in. We loved the decision.

12:14 someone actually turns around to look the at chandelier lmaoo!!

In Australia we had massive push back on the government taking the guns, it rocked the government. But they said stuff it were doing it, and the rest is history. There was a massive buy back to compensate those who had to hand them in.

I have shot since I was a child. I never heard ANYONE say they had it for uses against an other person, until I spoke with Americans.
I tried  to explain the insanity of buying a gun with the thought, I will use this against an other person.  Mental!!
