Freedom is not when you can own a gun, instead freedom is when you don’t need to own a gun...

An Aussie here.  I don’t know anyone who has a gun.   I never think about guns. I feel extremely safe in my home and in my community.

Here in the UK we had our first AND LAST school shooting in the same year as Australia. Same response here, MASSIVE amounts of firearm control laws. Same result as Oz too. Simple. I did find it really weird that Rainey was constantly calling what Jim said "crazy." It wasn't.  It was 100% stone cold FACTS. To live in a country where FIREARMS are more respected than CHILDRENS' LIVES is quite frankly SICK.

The fact that you chatted about the nuances of different school shootings shows how you have become immune to them. As has been said, in the UK we had ONE. Strong gun control measures were then introduced and...no more school shootings!

Here in Australia my son in law decided to get a gun for target shooting ( he's ex military) he had to do all the usual Police checks, join a gun club, be a member for 6mths and get sponsored by a member before he was able to buy a gun.  Guess what his job is? He's a Police Officer who TEACHES SHOOTING at the Academy. So no shortcuts for him at all.

In Australia, we too have the right to bare arms. We are just advised to put sunscreen lotion on.

21:20 hears how gun control and getting rid of guns does work for the last 20minutes then says "lots of great points but no don't take them away its not gonna work". congratulations, you summed up your fellow countrymen perfectly.

UK here

Never saw a gun, never heard of anyone having a gun and have zero interest in guns

The argument doesn't say take all guns away, just some types AND tighten the ownership criteria.   I,for one,am bloody glad I live in Australia. I'm 75. The last gun I saw was aged 12 & that was a •22  5-shot rifle owned by a friend who was in the Scouts & a gun club. Never since. School shootings don't happen here,as well as shooter drills. Unheard of.

I SWEAR, as an Australian I totally identified with this!  I could not quote a single line of our Constitution!  I love how Australian it is to just not give AF.

There appears to be at least 1 huge difference between the way Americans and Australians think about gun laws. Americans care about what are THEIR rights but Australians care about what IS right!

The thing is, Aussie laws don't even stop you owning guns if you're responsible about it. My father owned most of his guns for decades. In the 2000s, he was still hunting with the same rifles he had in the 1970s. The only gun he had to give up in 1996 was the semiauto he used to hunt feral, invasive wild boar with. When he died, we found my great grandfather's 110-year-old massive-gauge shotgun in the back of his safe. All of his weapons were legally owned and stored. I know farmers, I know competitive shooters, and I know descendants of veterans who all legally own and responsibly keep guns. And they all respect the law and are grateful for what it has given us. Australia has never had a single school shooting.

I like that mate - "everyone has a game plan until...". We all think we know exactly how we would react to a situation - and it's almost always wrong lol

8:13 As another comedian,  Christopher Titus, once said,

"Let me be very clear on this one: If ANY of my teachers had EVER been armed...

... there would be no show tonight."

You BOTH jumped to "the other one is crazy" way too quickly! I know two crazy people when I see them 🤣

Aussie here, we still have guns, but the ones we do have are highly regulated.

Most people who visit Australia say that the wildlife etc is nowhere near as dangerous as they thought it was.  And of course they are 100% correct.

Oh guys you just made my day Jim is a deadest legend  so happy you watched him

I’m from the Netherlands and guns are heavily restricted here. They are very rare.
In the US, guns are very common. This changes every encounter you may have. For example, burglars bring guns when they B&E in the US. Cuz they expect homeowners to be armed as well. When they get caught, everyone thinks the other party has a gun, people get killed.
Same with “trigger happy” cops: when cops over here pull someone over, the chance of someone having a gun are slim to none. In the US, cops may shoot people for reaching for their wallet in their backpocket because they expect a gun to be pulled. Here, they just think he’s reaching for his wallet.

18:25 I was thinking "...don't say that" at exactly the same time 🤣
