This entire ecosystem of cameras everywhere is extremely unhealthy for newer generations that grow up always being watched. I would argue even more unhealthy than social media even. Why?
Because it trains kids to always think that some higher authority is watching them and that this is normal. It’s not. Privacy, even in public spaces, shouldn’t be a thing of the past.
If we don’t want to live in George Orwell’s novel, we should avoid normalizing its concepts

The absurdity of all this is literally mind-bending.

For this money I would expect it to be brushing my teeth on it's own

Every time I see a new "smart" product I just assume it performs the same as a "dumb" product but it tracks you and sells your data.

It's absolutely baffling to me that people don't understand that your cyber security is only as secure as your weakest device. If you let all these smart devices into your home, then you are introducing more weak links and more exploitable devices.

Let this be a reminder to change your passwords if you haven't in a while.

Spend hundreds of dollars on a tech item that also needs a subscription…

At this point I'm even looking at fire alarms with suspicion. They're going to create a whole group of people who deliberately avoid tech at all costs.

I take care of my teeth and still get cavities.

I once asked Amazon if Alexa was listening to my conversations when I'm not using it. They replied saying that, when not in use, Alexa only listens for the wake word.

Only?   Explain to me how something can only listen for one thing but nothing else.

The first noticeable flock cameras appeared this past week in my town, apparently without an approval request going up the chain of command first. Our outstanding mayor tore one of them down himself as soon as he saw it.

Why would I wanna see the inside of my mouth 😭😭

I kinda miss the time when my only device connected to the internet was a desktop 😢

All this surveillance and they can't manage to put more than one person in jail from those files

They always say it's not spying on you. And some of them aren't. At least at first. The smart ones wait a few weeks-months to update the software and end user agreement to allow spying.
Get you used to having the survailance device in your private space, then start gathering data once you let your gaurd down.

gamers know exactly where this goes. anticheats have gotten so much more invasive and the amount of cheaters is still more or less the same if not more.

i rather use my brain and forget stuff than remember everything but so does everyone else.

That camera looks like a nice idea for a dentist. They could drop the price and just sell it as a camera for dentists.

This is why authors like Philip K Dick and William Gibson wrote about clothes to hide our identities from tech.

My favorite was the anti-surveillance scarf.

If you read Consumer Reports you'll know that Dyson products have always been overpriced and under perform.

George Orwell was a 'glass half full' guy.
