The fight on the lawn is funnier once you realize it's Batman vs Jason Bourne.

Christian Bale is British that's why he's so good at the accent lol

200 dollars in the mid 60s would be equivalent to just over 2,000 dollars today. That's 14,000 dollars a week. Absolutely insane.

22:51 Marian, you see a car with the name "Shelby" associated with it, and that's the guy they're talking about.

The Ford GT car came from England from a company called Lola. It was the Lola Mk6 GT.

Truth is that, in the mid-60s, a number of the drivers in the Ford GT team ... Bruce McLaren, Dan Gurney, Graham Hill to name a few ... actually were or would be more famed and successful than Ken Miles, because he was older and specialized in sports cars, not Formula 1 or Indianapolis where the really big money and coverage were. However, thanks to this movie, Ken is now more famed and known of than any of his rivals ever were!
Christian Bale is from Wales, and British is his natural accent.

The man, the myth, the legend lol. Le mans is where it takes place, in France and it's on public roads, it's why it's so fascinating. Carroll Shelby is a car building legend. Great movie.

23:05 That is exactly who made the Shelby 500.

I remember this race. I was 15. Miles's co-driver was Denis Hulme, a New Zealander who was Formula 1 world champion in 1967. He and Miles were a hell of a team. The photo-finish -- which was Ford's idea, not Beebe's (just one of a great many inaccuracies in the movie) -- screwed them. The rule by which they were pushed into second place was one of long standing, and not something that was made up on the spot. Filmmakers are always trying to improve on reality, when reality is a great story to begin with. I liked the movie anyway.

Yes, Carol Shelby was behind the full Shelby Mustang line up.

In truth, they didn't initially know about the tie rule. They asked the racing commission, and they told them the rule, but there was no way to communicate to the drivers.

The reason the door did not close was because in order for the door to not shutter at high speeds, Ford installed a flange at the top of the car where the door would go under the flange. When Ken slammed the door, the door went over the flange instead of under it. That is why the door did not close properly. Unlike today, where the new high performance brakes are slotted and drilled, to allow for the heat to vent, they did not have that back then, which is why the brakes overheated. In 1975, Lee Iacocca approached Henry Ford the second with a concept called, " The Mini Van." Ford rejected the idea, and when Iacocca went on to run Chrysler, he unveiled the "Dodge Caravan" in 1984. It went on to become one of the most produced cars ever.
