Niki Lauda himself said the film was 80% accurate which is saying a lot. Basically the main divergence from history was overplaying their rivalry. They were actually roommates early in their career and did a lot of stuff together. RIP James Hunt & Niki Lauda

Daniel Brühl is SO under rated as an actor.

Niki won two more F1 world championships.   in   1977  and 1984.

In the end of the end there was a LOT of RESPECT and HONOR between them. According to Lauda's own accounts: When Hunt was "drunk, dirty, and broke" in his later years, Lauda provided him with money and emotional support to help him get back on his feet.
With Lauda’s support as a "pillar" during his worst moments, Hunt eventually became clean and sober for the final four years of his life.

Lauda and Hunt
Two Legends at their own rights
may them both R.I.P.

Nikki Lauda had a very successful career outside of racing. This included creating an airline named Lauda Air (which operated between 1979 and 2012) and managing several Formula One teams over the years until his death in 2019.

Niki went on to win two more championships and played a vital role in establishing the revived Mercedes F1 team and F1 safety is what it is today because of Lauda's push for regulation changes

Nikki Lauda telling the priest to F off did actually happen.

Such an underrated movie.  Wish more reactors would react to this movie.

The movie is real good.  Hemsworth kind of plays up to his strengths as a boastful/cocky guy but not an outright villain or anything.  Brühl is the standout though, he did some amazing work in the film.

The translation of the conversation between Nikki and his future wife in the hallway, right before the Wedding, is at one point totally off.
He said: Aber wenn ich das jetzt tu, dann nur mit dir!
In the movie it's translated as: But if I'm going to do this with anyone, it might as well be you!
The first part of that sentence was correct. But the second part is not : it might as well be you!
The correct translation is: only with you !

The Nurburgring in Germany is still in use today and it ia also better known as "The Green Hell":

Their rivalry was over played in the film .
They actual shared a flat in their formula 3 days . They were actual pretty close friends

Rest in Peace Nikki!

There are many stories about Nikki Lauda. One of my favorite ones is the Mercedes race at the Nürburgring (the small track, not the long where his accident happened) in the 80's.
This was a race by Mercedes to promote a homologation car for touring car racing. They invited previous world champions and current F1 racers and everybody got the same car.
Some of the older, previous F1 drivers didn't take it overly serious until the race started, and Nikki Lauda couldn't do qualifying because he had to be at a tv interview.
Everybody else did the qualifying (meaning determine from which position they start and a last set of training).
For the race, they had put Lauda at the 14th starting position. And among all the known drivers was one mostly unknown guy from Brazil called Ayerton Senna.
In the race, the young Ayerton Senna, who started from 1st position because he was fastest in qualifying went ahead and lead the whole race and won it. Lauda managed to climb from 14th to second position and finished in second position. He was the only one in the whole race to ever gain on Senna but not enough to get close enough to overtake of course.
Ayerton Senna is considered by many as the best F1 driver there ever was. And i really like that Nikki Lauda was able to race Ayerton Senna in his prime and actually gaining on him on the same ground with the same car.
The whole race is on YT and you can see the clean and efficient way Nikki drove, not a cenitmeter of wasted line.

And he was meticulous in everything he did. When he had his Airline, he frequently flew as captain himself. And he did everything he expected his pilots to do too. He helped the cabin crew. I know that because my father worked at an airport and met him freqently.
He said Lauda would always say what translates to "i can not expect my employees to do someting if i do not do it myself when i am in their shoes".

Austria has had 9 commercial airlines in its history. 3 of them were founded by Niki Lauda.

They used real footage from the actual races. And it was pretty much accurate.  Some parts they took creative liberty. But accurate as a whole.

The best movie about Formula 1 ever made is Grand Prix...the 1st time cameras were attached to real race cars during the 1965 season...its a masterpiece

I've always wanted to see your reaction to this film, thank you so much.

When I watched F1, all I kept thinking was, "I'd rather be watching Rush".
This film is absolutely amazing.  I've watched it numerous times along with countless videos and docs of Nicky.  It's an amazing story.
