Tell who’s the worst character In Hetalia, and why is it Italy?

I definitely believe more than a couple  of the hetellia  9/11 art was for school projects.

The Hetalia fandom is strangely more alive than you'd think

At first glance the 9/11 art may be out there but I am from Poland and we have 19th century paintings of Poland personified as a beautiful woman being crucified and another has Poland personified as a man being trampled by a horse. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This comment will probably age horridly once I watch the whole video, but I clicked instantly when I saw hetalia 😭

“I would’ve moved the photo shoot further from the Holocaust memorial, especially since it’s Easter” is such a fucking insane take by that organizer.

Hetalia was technically the reason why I'm engaged right now. I met my fiance back in 2019, in an advanced level english class, I had a Hetalia manga on my desk, he was sitting behind me and noticed it. next thing I know, I'm walking down the hallway after class and his friend comes up to me to say "hey, see this guy awkwardly lurking? he wants to befriend you!". fast forward a few years, we've been dating for 6 years, engaged for 1 and a half!

The amount of times I quoted “pasta” during senior year in high school and no one got the reference until I got older 😭✌️

My moment of no return with Hetalia was visiting my buddy in Canada.  I'm from the US, we were in Vancouver.  Her daughter was loudly talking about how much better America is than Canada even though they're nearly identical... Yeah, the Hetalia characters.  But that context was nonexistent for anyone hearing her talk.  I was already dying inside and we were getting dirty looks, and then she started in on how much she didn't like China.  My soul left my body.

I feel like the fandom really changed, especially Hetalia fans I met at anime cons, every single one I have met talked for example about how careful they are with their costumes being appropriate and respectful and if a Hetalia fan does something disrespectful or odd people talk about it and care about the situation. I like Hetalia but I am also genuinely interested in history so when I first heard about the photoshoot I was just baffled someone was so dumb and thought it was a good idea. I do not know if schools talked less about it or something but me and the people my age know really well that lifting that hand in that way is NOT GOOD.

I'm an adult with a history degree and I work at a college now...14 year old me was obsessed with Hetalia...

I'm finishing up a commission for a friend and God bless him for being so patient 😅

the thing about the salute allegedly being done somewhere in the vicinity of a memorial, whether that be a block or a 40 minute walk is so irrelevant. its bad to do AT ALL its just made even worse if it was done somewhat nearby, not that its less bad farther away 💀

As a teenage Hetalia fan, I'm glad that I was like a toddler when the fandom was crazy. When I joined the fandom, the teens who used to make the fandom look bad were already in their 30s

Hitalia and country balls have the problem were it's not inherently problematic but it can easily be made problematic due to it being tied to history and countries and thus politics

this is why I hate telling people I'm a hetalia fan😭

I just got to the 9/11 part of the video. I do want to bring up that every year of grade school, I was made to watch the crashes on the anniversary. In school they have us write and draw tributes. That's almost certainly why the Hetalia art exists. This is what our public schools do to us. I was 1 when 9/11 happened. And I have seen the videos hundreds of times, been made to write many essays and poems (I was never an artist), etc. In kindergarten, the first introduction to death most of us get is 9/11 watching a plane obliterate hundreds of people, dozens jumping to their deaths for a faster end, etc. This is a collective trauma for the American people because even those of us who didn't have to experience it firsthand are FORCED to secondhand every single year

When I started Grade 9 in 2011, I was a huge Hetalia fan. I swear it is the only reason I passed history and I coded my notes with the human names for the countries so this one kid would stop asking me for my notes.

But also, while I was in grad 9, the older classes were going on this trip to listen to Holocaust survivors tell their stories. I talked to the teacher incharge, and she said if I could write a compelling essay as to why I should be allowed to go, she'd consider it. Well, I was able to write an essay that convinced her. I was one of two grade 9 students on that trip. It was such a privilege to go.

Hetalia, though it is problematic and the fanbase can be questionable, is also how I met my chosen big sister. We've been friends since 2011 too.

Hey I’m a current Hetalia fan and yeah everyone that is still part of the fandom that was part of it in its hay day have definitely grown up. and new fans like myself treat the nations more as their own characters that just happen to be from those nations than the nations themselves. Also thanks to the fandom elders anytime something like this happens they have taught the fandom to stop it immediately

My english teacher liked hetalia when it first came out. SHE WAS 12 😭😭 i was acc so shocked when she told me she used to ship fruk and gerita…

i definitely think its easier now to tell someone you like hetalia because they will 9 times out of 10 not know what it is and just move on with their day but back then… you might as well be ready to be crucified
