A Hutt ambushing something and eating it whole is a TERRIFYING mental image.

To picture a Hutt warrior, keeping to old ways, imagine a slug with strength and ill temper of a hippo, clad in Tony Stark armor and armed with Predator weapons.

I can imagine a Hutt gangster of later times taking pride in their warrior past, having a big collection of hutt weapons and armor and keeping in shape fighting for the hell of it. People underestimate him because they're used to hutts being out of shape, and then he just clocks the guy, knocking him out in one punch (and then eats him, of course).

The Hutts becoming lazy, rich overlords after being warriors actually reminds me of the Quintessons from Transformers, kind of a similar idea.

Even in the modern era Hutts are still quite physically capable for their first century of adulthood, as it takes time and accumulated wealth to reach the point they can get away with being nearly immobile fat slugs.

It makes me wonder how the Hutts would react to salt?

Hutts seem to have a body structure similar to snakes, given the way they move by slithering, and if you've ever handled a snake you know they're extremely strong for their size (their body is pretty much one big muscle). If you ever piss off a Hutt, the good news is that you can probably just walk away from one at a brisk pace and it'll never catch you, but if you stand too close (and the odds are that if the Hutt really tries it can probably lunge at you from a longer distance than what you might assume), you'll be crushed to death. I can easily imagine them being absolutely terrifying warriors back when they actually bothered to stay fit instead of spending all their time lazing around and having their slaves do all the hard work.

The Hutts would fit right in at Warhammer 40k.

Geetsly is my go to Star Wars channel, I swear every video they make is so interesting. Like I never would have guessed that the Hutts could be so dangerous, I always saw them as big lazy slugs

This is why Hutts are my favorite star wars alien, they were basically the apex predators of their part of the galaxy, once they ran out of things to hunt and conquer and enslaved everyone, they became fat and lazy. In a way you could say they """"earned""" their hedonism.
