I despair for the animals and nature that has no other choice but to "share" this planet with our sorry lot.

If we were in our right minds, we would go mad.

It’s not the hottest summer ever, it’s the coldest summer for the rest of your life…

Maybe we could stop blowing things up 🤔

Here in Guatemala, we are in dire straights.  The corn and bean crops are drying out.  Food insecurity means starvation.  Can't even imagine what 2027 will be like.

Closing down data centres would be a great start

It’s a living nightmare. Why aren’t we all in a state of outrage and refusing to accept the way this is going?
Sleepwalking into extinction.

‘The next twelve months could be a rather worrying time…’
Classic British understatement

Stopping wars and closing down data centres would solve so much of the problem but no one wants to say that

What about the military industrial complex? this doesn't seem to be tracked adequately and is a massive contributor.

How surreal it must be to understand the science but still see the world through a lens of neoliberalism and be unable to bring oneself to name the enemy.

It's so scary that no one will just stop and rethink everything

It just seems, to me, that humans have always been trying to solve problems that were created by the last problem that we called solved!

I can't believe that degrowt is not a central part of the discussion. If I'm not mistaken, that's the only way we'll get there. Electrification is not it, electricity is not a primary energy.

Like 6 people could comfortably pay for all the change we need. Instead they're paying political figures to let them ramp up AI data center buildout, with even less regulations on energy consumption or pollution.

7 out of 9 Planetary Boundaries have been EXCEEDED. The emergency is now.

The effects are already severe in southern Europe!! Many people can’t function!

Michael Walker saying he wasn't really aware of el Nino until recently is baffling. I'm an elder millennial now but it has always been something we were aware of even as kids. I guess growing up in the global south where we're not as privileged and suffer more of these consequences (see Nepal) makes it necessary to be aware of these things, while the "West" can keep being ignorant until it's literally at their doorstep, THEN they take notice!

2023-24 was an El Niño this one is an El Hombre.

Has anyone modelled the emission of greenhouse gases because of military "interventions"? The amount of fuel needed for the fighter jets and for huge ships like air carriers is just breathtaking!
