It's important to note that after the final whistle blows, all these guys shake hands with and even embrace one another when the game is finished.  That's rugby.  Winning's important, but people are more important.

Haka are mainly used to honour the people facing them. Ireland presented to jersey of a deceased Māori player, which was really emotional. Then the Kiwis honoured the Irish with a haka, which they do before every match. It’s a mark of respect. They are very emotional. I mist up when I watch haka.

There are a range of haka. The ABs do more than one. Haka isn’t a particular choreography. Each haka has words and choreography. Ka Mate is the most famous haka. It’s a Ngāti Toa haka by Te Rauparaha, and the All Blacks did that one only for many years.

You need to also check out the Black Ferns doing Haka, that's the NZ's women's team and they are AWESOME! Both in playing and doing Haka. I'm German and never really cared too much about team sports growing up, but these women made me a fan❤

A fun fact.  In many sports around the world today at international level, the game begins with teams singing their national anthem.  This dates back to a 16th December 1905 rugby match between Wales and New Zealand.  The New Zealand team performed their Haka, which gave them an aura of invincibility, and the Welsh crowd spontaneously began singing the national anthem (Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, or The Old Land of my Fathers) in response to give the team a psychological boost.  This was the first recorded instance of a national anthem being sung at a sporting event and laid a groundwork for the use of anthems in sports around the world.  Wales went on to win the game 3-0.  One of the very few times we have ever beaten the All Blacks!  🤣

It's a signal. It is a grander gesture than the handshake and smile, which also was a tell of strength and health. It just says "this is us, beware"

Irish here. Rugby is a minority sport here but we are very proud of our national team. Rugby is New Zealand's national sport and they are all rugby-mad! Only recently have Ireland been able to challenge the best teams in the World and it feels great to be in such revered company .. and now no team wants to play us. We have huge respect for NZ and have developed a real rivalry with them. Apparently there are a few Hakas .. it is a Maori war/challenge performance and it always gives me shivers!

This is the Maori All Blacks Haka. This is particular to them as these players may represent many tribes. So they have a traditional Haka that amalgamates the players together. Haka has many meanings.

The All Blacks have two Haka. A
traditional one and then one to amalgamate all the players who have different ethnic back grounds in the team such as Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Nuiean, that play for the all blacks.

The Haka is so powerful as if they the NZ team is fearless as going to war. It is very emotional and it gives any one goose bumps

Kia ora hello love from new Zealand love your channel keep up the awesome work haka is similar to your cultural dance it came from our ancestors and taught to the next generation if you come to new Zealand  aotearoa you be so welcome  here

Haka in Te Ao Maori is a form challenge & respect to the opposition, inbl this case is a Haka of challenge & Haka in respect to the opposing team & your th family  one of the fallen Maori player(s) Sean Wainui . Much love to the family of Sean Wsinui & both rugby teams.

Hello Nadia, the haka is part of the culture of the people of the Pacific and Austral region. In the circle, it actually calls upon the spirits of our ancestors, and then it warns the opponents of our intentions. There are several hakas for each event in life. It is part of our culture that is passed down to each generation.

A really refreshing take compared to others out there, well done, great vid! Be sure to watch "All blacks ob the haka" to hear it from the team themselves, that vid always gives me goosebumps. Thanks for learning about our little corner of the world ❤ 🇳🇿🇮🇪

I have always understood the haka in sports is a challenge. It is saying we have come to compete, we will give our best, our fiercest amd our fairest, but we expect you to do the same and anything less would be a dissapointment

Your pronunciation was fine. The Māori haka is a ceremonial performing art from New Zealand, featuring rhythmic chanting, stomping, and vigorous body movements (like bulging eyes and tongue protrusions) to express pride, strength, and unity, traditionally as a war challenge but now also for celebrations, welcomes, and to honour ancestry, with movements stemming from a legend of the summer god Tānerore's dance.
Also take a look at "New Zealand, Māori - Haka dance, hockey U-18". That is a bit short Haka, but I've seen the NZ men's national team perform it at the World Championships Division II for China's team. The Chinese were a bit surprised to say the least. Haka on skates is awesome.

Highly recommended you react to the beats by dre haka documentary its less than 10 minutes but describes the use of haka in sports matches

There are many Haka my grandsons when at school preformed their schools Haka I am Pakeha and so are my grandsons.

They show respect for their foes

Kia Ora. If we changed War for Rugby it would be a better world!!

For a fuller view of the HAKA beyond  rugby try the WEDDING HAKA , or the SCHOOL  BOY<S FAREWELL  to a teacher
