MĀORI ALL BLACKS HAKA vs IRELAND | Intense Rugby Tradition Reaction

In this Māori All Blacks haka reaction, we watch their pre-match challenge against Ireland and break down why the haka is one of the most powerful traditions in world sport. This is more than just a pre-game ritual — it’s culture, pride, and identity on full display.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO
We are reacting to “Māori All Blacks perform their haka against Ireland” and talking through both the emotional impact and the cultural meaning behind it. In this reaction, we look at:
• The haka as a cultural expression (Māori heritage, language, and storytelling)
• Intensity & unity (how the team moves, shouts, and breathes as one unit)
• Ireland’s response (how opposing teams stand, stare it down, and show respect)
• Rugby atmosphere (why moments like this set the tone before a single whistle blows)

It’s a fascinating look at how sport, culture, and ceremony collide to create one of the most memorable sights in world rugby.

That's not concern on his face, thats respect. Being NZ born, he understands the honour being given, the challenge is issued to the opponent, and tells them that the contest will be real, full, and thorough, as is befitting an honoured foe.

Bundee Aki the Irish player was born in New Zealand, therefore being the player that placed the shirt down in respect for the New Zealand player Sean Wainui that passed away.

3:31 no he’s almost in tears because one of the NZ players died and he has a connection to NZ as Irish people we love the all blacks and we love the Haka when we play them we respect it so much

Bundee Aki , born n bred New Zealander, is playing for Ireland, feeling the MANA of his Polynesian ancestors through his body. Kia Kaha.

Fun fact Performing the haka before a game is slightly older than playing the national anthems before a game. Sometimes around the year 1900 the Al Blacks played against Wales. The AB performed their haka and the Welsh responded by singing a patriotic song that later became their anthem. And a tradition was born.

So Love the Haka. Hi from the Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤

@RayDavies-zv5ic 9 months ago

Mostly acknowledged as the most moving hakas were those performed at the funeral of Jonah Lomu who was an All Black and one of the greatest rugby players ever. The respect shown is immense..

The irish are well aware of the Haka,we don't have an equivalent in our culture but we play the All blacks very often .The thing is that because its in New Zealand and this is not the real All blacks as such there was no irish fans to issue a response which they often do by singing Fields of athenry and other songs.The Maori All blacks did something similar in ireland in honour of an irish player who had died .

Now imagine this in WW2 with the same velocity and guile as you just watched.

Ireland 🇮🇪 and New Zealand have the utmost respect for each other.

He is not afraid nor concerned. He is being respectful to a culture he originates from. And to be honest, if you looked at highlights from Bundee Aki, you’d know he is the one you should be afraid of.

The All Blacks have different hakas to perform, the longest ones mean that the team is not here for fun.

This haka was more of a mark of respect for a player that passed and their family rather than an intimidation tactic, either way always gives me the chills. however the haka is preformed in most to almost every rugby game for tradition. I would highly recommend "The Best Haka of all time?! #RWC2021" the ladies Haka i would argue to be better than the Men's. Also Jonah Lomu's funeral tribute is something else and probably the most recognised.

Google wedding haka, its not just for war and sport

@keithb9582 9 months ago

Like to see you do a reaction to the best Haka disrespects

@ericaadelaidee 5 months ago

5:56 that’s the wife and the children of the All blacks player who died where the Irish player put down the jersey as a sign of respect

Hey man, great reaction! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about our little country and corner of the world, always cool to see haha

If I could recommend two vids in line with this, one would be "All blacks on the haka" on their own channel, which kinda explains what it means to them and all of us as Kiwis, through rugby and culture. and the second would be "Why tiny nz dominates Rugby" which shows how Rugby is more a religion here than a sport, kinda like Canady with Hockey 😂

Keep up the awesome work man!

See the wedding haka will make you weep

This isn't the the national rugby team of New Zealand the Allblacks doing the Haka. It's the Maori Allblacks side. I can only see one guy in this Haka that played for the Allblacks and that's TJ Perenara. I might be wrong and there could be more that have played for the ABs.
