The platinum dunes era of horror is so under appreciated. Always happy to see you showing those movies love!

I absolutely hated this movie when I first saw it in the theatre, but over the years, it's grown on me a little. After I gave it another chance, I don't think it's as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. It's not perfect, but not bad. The only thing I hate now is just the Freddy design and not being too crazy over their version of Nancy, but it's ok doesn't ruin it for me

It had some interesting ideas in things like the micro naps and some cool visuals especially the scene where it switches between the pharmacy and the boiler room and the diner dream scene in the beginning  but.......the glove was something created in the dream and it was based on his 3 clawed trawel he used as a gardener, the weird inclusion of the Freddy vs Jason line "welcome to my world bitch" with the near mirror death too, the opening which was so disjointed to the rest of the film, Freddys barely moving face, Rooney Maras "acting"

If you show someone born in 2016 this movie and rob zombie Halloween. They are gonna like the reboots more than the originals

I remember being 10 years old so excited to get to see my first nightmare Elm Street movie in theater and I was mad when the blonde girl died then we got the dry emo version of Nancy. They got Fred being a creepy janitor talking about here to be innocent or not. He sleeps in the base of the school that’s creepy enough and then how she kills him is a complete rip off of Freddy vs Jason said it Word for Word.

Please do a room tour video!

There was a lot of aspects of this movie that were good
The bad part about it is it’s a shot for shot remake which they did less with

117 million. Did you do the calculation for inflation? 117 mil isnt the same in the 2000's as in the 80's. Just curious if you've confirmed that

I agree that Platinum Dunes did a great with the TCM remake and Friday the 13th. I never understood why the latter was ever divisive at all. The first time I watched it, I thought, "Surely, every fan of this franchise is gonna LOVE this movie."

I'm really glad that more people are coming around to it. I grew up on eighties slashers, and other than The Final Chapter, the remake/boot/IMPROVEMENT, imo, is the best of the franchise.

I mean it’s not great but I will say I appreciate them attempting to make Freddy scary again, and embracing the darker elements of his character if you catch my drift

I thought this movie was a dumpster fire leaving the theater & I didn’t rewatch it until last year. It’s not anything I’m crazy about but it’s certainly much much better than I remembered. Def had some interesting ideas, especially w/ the micro naps. I liked JEH as Freddy, just wish they had went all the way and made Freddy innocent of the child killings…

My earliest memories of watching horror were Jaws, The Thing, and Poltergeist, so slasher movies didn't scare me because the quality of acting was so much lower.
That's why I think the first movie is a gem but can be improved.
This one is better in a lot of ways, but that scene where Freddy pokes through the wall is trash 😂

I don’t think this is as bad as Freddy’s dead ngl I like this one a bit more than Freddy’s dead

Honestly I absolutely loved the direction they went with this movie, and I’m a Fred head. But, only thing I didn’t like what the look of Freddy’s face.

Man my biggest memory of this movie was the RIDICULOUS amount of cheap jump scares every couple minutes. I remember rolling my eyes so hard they nearly fell out of my face 😂
It's probably been over a decade since I watched it though. Ahh fine, I'll give it another shot

As a child of the eighties, I'm not a fan of this one, but I'd watch it over The Dream Child or Freddy's Dead any day of the week. And that's not after reevaluating. Part 5 and 6 are HORRENDOUS!

it had its moments but was a miss overall.

I liked Platinum Dunes's Texas Chainsaw (R Lee Ermey was a great choice) and F13 remakes... but this one was just awful. It might be because I've been a diehard fan since the 80s, but the characters, even Freddy, were just so bland and uninteresting, and it's not because of the actors (well, except that some of them were just wayyy too good-looking and in shape for an Elm Street movie).

I don't know why you thought the diner scene was interesting-- Alice in 4 and 5 worked at diner, and the pizza scene in 4 was wayyy more exciting and visually interesting than anything in this remake.

I hate the 'real burn victim' look. It just doesn't make sense... Freddy's appeal wasn't that he was a tragic figure, his appeal is that he's horrifying-- the original makeup leaned into the demonic and sensationalist aspect... it was better when he didn't look like a real burn victim. Who wants to think about burn victims when they go see a movie like this??

And then copying scenes from the original-- why?? They didn't even fit what the character was supposed to be here... I guess someone we feel sorry for? But then, we can't feel sorry for him, because he was a scumbag in the end anyway.

IMO Stranger Things 4 did a better job, because they at least made it fun. This was just a boring, uncomfortable, miserable experience... easily the worst in the whole series. I don't think they understood the franchise at all.

I thought it was pretty bad, but not because of Jackie Earle Haley. He's great as the character. The makeup and CGI are just awful. Also, all the kids in the movie act as if they've seen all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies before. We get a silly exposition dump at the beginning and there's no mystery about what's going on. I remember teenagers laughing in the theatre when I saw this in 2010 (still the only time I've seen it). It was also one of the movies I had to tell kids to shut up and complain to the cinema staff during because there was talking and tomfoolery going on the entire time. I remember all of that more than the film itself.

I m not gonna lie my first introduction to Freddy was Freddy vs Jason for whatever reason I never got around to watching the OG NOES movies I still gotta visit those one day saying all that I had no issues with the remake I recently bought it on blue ray !!!
