"We had no money after the mortgage...now just pass through the atrium, past the grand piano, to see our bay of windows." Lunacy

I will never understand how people back then threw together paisley, gingham, and floral, all in yellow, red, blue, brown, cream, green, and pink, and then went, "It all matches perfectly, and to tie it together, I put some dead vines from outside. Perfection."

How did they manage to find a shade directly between beige and ochre and then also decide to put it on this poor old gals walls. "Cloudy yellow?" If a color has a name youd fine on a chart at the urologist you probably shouldn't be painting ppls houses with it.

"Cloudy yellow, also known as-"
Me: "Piss!"
Luxeria: "Biege!"

Whatever the color, there is sure to be a cutaway for it!

The idea that at this time folks said "I have no money" to mean "I am still well off but with slightly less money" would explain sooo much about how certain older people interact with/perceive younger generations. (Also I love these videos, definitely a comfort series!)

Every rich person I've ever known has pled poverty while owning cars that cost more than the homes we'll never afford. Vive la Révolution!

I feel like now if you painted over wallpaper in your rented apartment, your landlord would suddenly appear in your living room, curse your entire bloodline, and hand you a bill for $1,000 in damages.

20:35 Before 2008, "we have no money" meant "we're clinging to our little piece of the housing bubble that will hold us up forever."

Draping fabric over the heater is diabolical!

I'm so surprised that you didn't mention the grand piano in the enormous room of that house where the poor homeowners mortgage stretched them so far that they couldn't afford to decorate. 🙄
