Bill, you and I have conversed a few times on this channel and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have restored over 150 gun stocks in the last 15 years. I never used wood fillers. I always use my finish to do the filling for me and I have had some of the most beautiful gun stocks when I get finished, I have never had anyone complain or had to redo any of my work.

Brad is going to be so pleased.  He will have a one-of-a-kind work of art.

This is great info, I did a new walnut stock for an old Lee Enfield a couple years ago and filling the grain with color was a challenge. I ended up using black and red artist oils rubbing them in very thin layers, just trying to get some color going to match the age of the rifle. turned out ok , yours looks amazing!

I actually finished my gunstocks the same as you without filler I  agree with your philosophy as well.

Great video! I would love to see another round of polishing/Blueing. I would also love to see you refinish a Glenfield model 60 stock or something similar. I believe they are birch. I have refinished three of them and it's impossible (for me) to get the grip area to remain the same color as the rest of the wood.
