I remember around about 1980, KP had an advertising campaign 'ounce for ounce, more protein than prime steak'. Was OK until some bright spark worked out that ounce for ounce, KP nuts were 4 or 5 times more expensive than prime steak...
I've tried them both. The snack right nuts are hard, good teeth breakers. KP are softer and much tastier. What you have in this video is ONE man's opinion. I'm prepared to pay the extra price for quality.
Yeah, in the past, pubs would put bowls of peanuts on the bar for people to help themselves. I wonder how many blokes had visited the loo and not washed their hands, digging into the peanuts.. haha
We have the exact same situation in Denmark and I remember it wasalready like that in the early 1990s when big brand Kims were selling their peanuts really expensive, compared to several smaller brands. We used to call the Kims nut "snob nuts", because nobody could taste any difference, but to some it just felt "more prestigious" to pay extra for a bag of Kims.
Fast forward to 2026 and Kims (and other big name Taffel) are still ripping people off, while a smaller brand called Nordthy cost less than half of Kims!!!
I really don't understand how they can get away with it!
You have to be nuts paying £3.25 for KP, you're paying for the brand name plus the marketing costs, you're better off with the Aldi/Lidl alternatives Gareth. Next try the BBQ coated ones as they're really nice and finger licking 😊
They may not do this anywhere but America, but it's common here to find bowls of peanuts in the shell on bartops. The shells go on the floor after cracking open the nut, providing employment for lowly janitors. Fixes the problem of unsanitary bar nuts.
