What stood out to me was in season 3, Hopper came home drunk, he heard music from El’s room and became enraged. He busted the door open, yelling. It was just El w Max, not Mike, but damn it was borderline violent. Almost scared me.

“Stranger Things” was originally supposed to be an anthology series. Each season would have featured an entirely different cast and timeline, only maintaining the title as the common thread.
That why the first season is so thight and well made, and the rest... not so much

The fans practically wrote the show and still didn’t get what they wanted lol

I remember being ecstatic years ago when my English teacher showed us a portion of Stranger Things season 1 as an example of good writing. How the mighty have fallen

Elevens death genuinely feels so disrespectful in so many ways like not only does every character survive from huge plot armour especially against a Kaiju super god but now the duffers want to be realistic and say El can’t have a happy ending cause she’s connected to Vecna when Will is the one who’s connected to him the most but it’s never brought up for him and not even the military notices him using his powers and also the fact on why would they go through the gate where the military is waiting for them did they forget there’s more paths to take it just felt so forced

I just really hate the concept of Vecna, they should never have humanized the threat. Now, instead of the unknowable, lovecraftian horror the upside down (and mind flayer) was before, we just have a dude, who's just weird.

I thought that the plot line with pregnant woman with eleven's blood is somehow connected to why Vecna kidnapped these 12 kids but nah....

@joshkroeger734 8 months ago

The worst part of Joyce hacking Vecna’s head off was that you realize it’s the only thing Winona Ryder has to do this season!

I think you mentioned something about this but I’m not seeing one of the most annoying things to me being posted almost anywhere, in S1 when we first seethe upside down and brenner has one of his men go in, the man dies almost immediately, the danger that was portrayed there, if kept throughout the entire series could have very easily carried the entire show, the upside down should have been 10x more dangerous through the series and it never was

Max literally walked it all off smh

No one can change my mind, the show should have ended at the end of season 2. Everyone’s happy, and the snowball feels perfect to end at.

I think the chief problem with this show is that the writers didn’t plan the whole story and kept adding things without bothering to check whether it makes sense with what’s previously established, resulting in confusing retcons and things dropped with no explanation. The “pantsing” writing technique (where you write as you go vs planning it all out) CAN work and some writers swear by it but I think it takes a very conscientious writer who prioritizes their story and characters and not just vibes or what they think is cool in the moment. Vecna is the biggest example, where it’s extremely clear they had not even conceptualized him until mid-series but then tried to pretend he always existed from season 1

Carter, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush were presidents in the 80s btw. All of which would’ve bombed the upside down to shit and some when that gate opened in Season 4’s finale. Whether or not they’d evacuate first notwithstanding.

Stranger Things is everything I despise about the modern streaming show. 80s references everywhere, 8 episodes per season, it basically became a Marvel movie near the end, the writing is literally intended to explain everything because execs want people to understand it even when they're paying half of their attention to it, and there's like 4 years between seasons.

@IGNACIORIGINAL 8 months ago

Something else that didn't make sense to me is this: the military knows perfectly well that these creatures are not harmed by bullets but by fire, so why do they keep using guns and not flamethrowers or molotov cocktails??? ;-;

@gibbonbasher8171 8 months ago

How to write Stranger Things:
1. Problem arises.
2. Friends get together to make a plan to tackle the problem.
3. The plan is enacted. Complications occur. Friends get separated.
4. Spend several episodes getting back together and accidentally roping more people into the chaos and to cry all over each other with cheesy vapid dialogue after reuniting.
5. Rinse and repeat.

Nancy and Johnathan in a supposedly death trap and they cut away to scenes with zero tension where the others are making a bath for eleven, they do this multiple times. They even spread out this scene across 2 episodes meaning I have zero tension watching it. What an idiotic directional method

I love how they had four years in between seasons to plan, script, and choreograph the finale but instead they decided to wait till they were filming to start writing it. It's like having a class where you're given four weeks to work on your final and you don't do it till the day it's due, sit in the back of the class and finish it while the teacher is collecting the other students work.

I believe there is some truth that Leigh Janiak, ex wife of Ross Duffer had a hand in its initial success and explains the drop in S5 quality.They married a year before Stranger Things premiered and divorced a year before Season 5. And of course the premise of the show is copy and pasted from the Montauk Project books.

I love how a 100 pound woman can manhandle a Full auto M16 with no recoil, and somehow neither her or Hopper get Domed,
even with thousands of bullets going their direction their making jokes SMH
