Rest in Peace Brian Wilson 😢❤

“They eclipsed everything we worked for.” Brian Wilson quipped about The Beatles. Then he stated, “They eclipsed everyone.”

I know the channel is called “making of THE BEATLES” but damn it would be great to have more videos about the beach boys

Yes! Super happy to see Brian getting more due! Always wanted to see a Beach Boys mini doc in the style of your stuff! There’s just so much

It’s really such a shame that Brian, didn’t have a better supporting cast, to get him through his tough times earlier in life. It robbed us of so much of his peak artistic creative music at that time. It’s still ok we got gems, but it’s always that what could’ve been, that’s what gets me all the time with the Beach Boys.

I love Brian Wilson in the way that you love The Beatles, so to have you do a deep dive on Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys in the same way you analyze The Beatles history is an absolute treat. Thank you!

Fun fact: “Rival” comes from the Latin rīvālis, meaning someone who shares the same stream (rīvus). Paul and Brian were “rivals” in the oldest sense of the word: drawing from the same source, inspiring each other to reach greater heights.

Imagine the pressure Brian had to endure in the 60's to keep churning out commercial product for the group to maintain it as a viable business,  yet satiate his own muse, which was musical genius on a scale the other Beach Boys could barely understand. No wonder he turned to drugs as a form of escape and inspiration. I'm by no means defending his drug abuse. Brian was a grown adult and should take responsibility for his actions and behavior, but I wonder if things would have been different had he the same mutual support and encouragement that Lennon-McCartney had.

Shhh, my show is on.

We've officially hit the The Beach Boys' part in the making of The Beatles

What would have happened if Brian would have hooked up with Paul in a collaboration after the Beatles break up. Could they even work together? Two perfectionists.

I love how they influenced and respected each other so much.

The DC5 also scared them a bit in '64 when they were untouchable. Please do a video about that, too.

Making of The Beatles video on Pet Sounds/The Beach Boys and their musical back and fourth with The Beatles? Amazing to come home from work to! RIP Brian, Carl & Dennis Wilson

Growing up, my oldest brother bought the records.  First it was the Beach Boys and we loved it, but then he came home with Sgt Pepper , followed by MMT, the White Album, and LIB and the Beach Boys weren’t heard from again.  No disrespect to the BBs, but the Beatles were on another level.

Life laugh love Brian. He’s just an incredible example of a man who overcame obstacles in his life that restricted him and took his passion to incredible heights. One of my favorite artists ever.

An excellent video, as usual, from this excellent channel.
Poor Brian. I loved the man. I saw him in concert on three separate tours and I've never experienced anything like the pure, loving warmth that flowed from the audience towards the stage that I felt at a Brian Wilson gig.
It was as if we all went there to lift his spirits as opposed to a star going onstage with the responsibility of making US feel good at the end. Very strange (as another great musician once sang.)
Fortunately, at least for me, Brian performed brilliantly on each occasion, despite an occasional couple of flaky moments which caused a momentary panic in the auditorium before he got back with the programme.
He was a creative genius in the field of music, but sadly, his psyche had already been traumatised long before he ever started trying out drugs.
It's so sad to recognise that this beautiful, loving soul was, at the same time, a very unhappy man who received practically no emotional support from those who were closest to him.
You can make all the excuses you like for Mike Love, but history shows that Love only cared about stoking his own ego and making money while he relentlessly bullied his cousin - and meal ticket - to the point of complete mental breakdown.

The Beach Boys road to Pet Sounds begins with “Don’t Worry Baby” from Surfer Girl when their harmonies reached their finest. Then, Brian Wilson started hanging around the studio with Phill Spector while he was recording his Wall of Sound records. Brian learned how to emulate the Wall of Sound on the second side of Beach Boys Today with the songs “Please let me wonder”, “I’m so young” originally by the Students, “Kiss me baby”, “She knows me too well”, and “In the back of my mind.”
So you can see where Pet Sounds came from.

In 2014, the virtuoso guitarist Jeff Beck toured with the Beach Boys. He, too, was a big fan of 'Pet Sounds'. He played a set of his instrumental music and then contributed to their set as well. It was a special and unique ✨️ event.

The musical compliment to the introverted “in your head” Beach Boys Pet Sounds is the critique of the human condition of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon with songs like “Time”, “Money” and my personal favorite, “Us and them.”
