I’ve been doing drugs for 50 years, still waiting for my masterpiece.

Nowhere Man is one of the best tunes John ever wrote. It still gives me chills when that harmony goes up high at the very end.

Rubber Soul was truly a Beatles game changer.  Period.

I remember john saying, when the album came out, that someone told him that Norwegian wood was very good wood for a construction or remodel job that John had going on at the time. And it's true. Where it's cold, the growing seasons are shorter, the tree rings are closer together, and the wood is denser.

These videos are just so good dude

I'm a retired music & broadcast producer & have only met one Beatle...Ringo @ one of his All-Starr shows. I've also worked with Apple records on some specials & have analyzed ALL Beatles recordings including outtakes/alts, plus had a brief correspondence w/ Giles Martin on some of his recent remixes.

I'm only halfway into this video, but I'm impressed with the complete exploration and fair balance the producer/director gives this!
It gives you a true insight into the Beatles relationship w/ one another, and the dynamic while collaborating. Even down to subtle hints like "Paul exaggerates" which is 100% true! And he found some great footage (video & audio) including very specific memories from the Beatles (which inclines me to believe John's recollection of Bird has Flown is closer to the truth)!

I rarely comment on a YouTube video and rarely see one this well produced. Now for the 2nd half...!

I love how your #1 "most John-like-John-song" is "All I've Got to Do." It's so immediate, raw, and iconic in its John-ness.

Paul’s famous for counting! I really love the very first four count to open their first album. How could someone put so much groove into counting to 4? The insane amount of talent that Paul has . He’s been at it for 70 years and he still hasn’t seen a drop off.

Rubber Soul, and Out of Our Heads by the Stones are my favorite records.

I always thought of 'Run For Your Life' metaphor, nothing else.

What you call "George's Lead" for Think For Yourself is actually Paul's Fuzz Bass. He has two bass parts on the song, a clean one (which is the one you labelled as Paul's Bass) and the fuzz one

BEST ALBUM EVER ACCEPT THAT!!!!!

I think there’s a beauty to writing an album to a deadline. The Beatles didn’t have time to sit and overthink their songs, they simply needed to work with what ever inspiration was handed to them at the time. Some songs revealed themselves more easily, others needed dragging out from under the sheets. I remember reading an interview with Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner on how she made herself write a song a day for a month straight just go through the process. She said she was still using the songs from that period when she was on her third album. The Beatles weren’t just great songwriters, they were expert facilitators.

It really is staggering when you think how prolific they were album to album. Only 64-70 in the public eye and they changed the world.

my favorite beatles album

If you listen for it, the clapping on the song 'I'm looking through you' falls apart in the middle of this song. It slows down a little bit and then stops. Now I know why. It was the end of the marathon session, on the last day of recording.

Best "Beatles Channel" on this entire platform and it's not even close. For me, when a video from this channel drops, it's appointment viewing. Well researched and entertaining at the same time. And the best part? Each video seems to only improve and get better...

Norwegian Wood definitely has the feeling of some of Paul's "story songs" little vignettes of life...But with John's edge and darker humor. I think John wrote 90% of it, but brought it to Paul unfinished knowing this kind of story song was up his alley. It's a fantastic collaboration between the two.

37:40 Paul switching to the Rickenbacker bass was a big shift. The Beatle Bass (the Hoffner violin one) has a very plucky short sound. Rick goes booooom, and you can really hear it on Rubber Soul. Glorious.

What a work of genius. Everything from this album through the end of their career together was fascinating and ground-breaking. (Yes even the psychedelic tracks on Yellow Submarine, which are underrated, especially those younger than the Beatles generation tend to appreciate the droney acid rock of tunes like Only A Northern Song.)
