Corrections: Patti was George's wife in 1967, not girlfriend. And at 33:53 I made a blunder and incorrectly added a picture of Derek Taylor. Keep them coming guys! This is my first video and I want them to be as thorough and accurate as possible!

The Maharishi gave each Beatle a mantra and said “Don’t tell anyone what yours is”.
After the fallout with the Maharishi, John and George told each other what their mantra was. They both said “That’s mine!”

John looked absolutely stunned at Brian's death. Like a lost little boy.

Regarding John’s reaction to Brian’s death.  It’s pretty rare to see someone, in real time, react to a massive personal loss.  John barely had a moment to process it, before a reporter was in his face.  He had lost yet another key person in his life.  Lost his mother, Uncle George, his Mother, his dear friend Stu, then Brian.  In the context of having a broken family in the first place.  John’s psyche had so many deep injuries, his ability to overcome and succeed so massively shows just how tough he was.  I was just listening to the stripped down version of Woman last night.  At 39-40, he was still doing the most beautiful, honest music.  His voice and delivery never better.  His was a great loss to all of the world

Anyone criticising George shud realise he was a 25 year old superstar, with every worldly pleasure available at his feet. The fact that he even made an earnest attempt to seek a spiritual centre & was endlessly curious towards such experiences is a marvelous thing in itself.

I was taught sitar and tabla by George's teacher in the UK. I had been learning at a massive musical instrument store's upstairs floor teaching group. One day the owner said.. matty, you travel 2 & half hours each way to learn here, we know of an Indian Classical Music teacher within a few miles.  Maybe 5 ? From me.  They said he is very good. He is an old man, he is from Pakistan. So I followed up the tip and thus  became the start of a fantastic learning experience. Perhaps about 6 lessons in, he said.. matty you work in a photo place.. could you help me tidy up a few old photographs of him with Ravi and George.
My teacher was taught by Ravi also. So I produced the desired prints and perhaps at my next lesson he said to me.. "Beat-man, ( his nickname for me), if you come on Wednesdays George will be here and we could all play". We'll I was speechless and actually declined to jam as I was not that great a player at that time. I remember he told me George lives a few miles away and comes Wednesdays. I thought what every Wednesday?
You can see my teacher, in the posthumously produced music videos Free As A Bird, and I cant remember the other one. Both have John singing.. I still have the photographic prints and my lesson ragas, half written by teach, half by me. Fond memories.

John try not have sex with Yoko in your wife's home while high out of your mind on LSD challenge: IMPOSSIBLE

"I thought he might slip me the answer" -- one of the best Lennon moments 🙂

Nice to see video clips that I've never seen before. The Beatles certainly lived a fishbowl existence, with almost every stage of their lives captured on video.

This is the most interesting period in Beatles history. Kind of disappointing Scorsese made his documentary about 1964, everybody knows about Beatlemania. 68 is where to interesting stuff is really at, such in important year not only for The Beatles, but also for the world.

At least we have this video. It’s done very well!

5:21 RIP David Lynch

Upon hearing about Brian's death, have you ever seen John so speechless????

32:59 John’s acid face cracks me up right here lol

john goes"i am yoko's student" and it sure is true.she was a classical superstar, with hello kitty,in japan.in the thirties, her teacher sent her out wlking, and simply notate in sheet  all of the sounds, that she really liked, that day.

Ringo said the Maharishi is where he got the "peace and love" jargon he still uses to this day. He said the drugs and partying were not making them happier, and the time and message in India made a big difference to him personally. "Peace and Love" certainly became a part of the whole hippie cultural scene of the sixties, when everybody thought Nirvana, or "the answer", was just around the corner, or could be brought about just by wishing it.

Great work and I am very much looking forward to Part 2. I did notice two small errors in the video. Across the Universe was recorded before travelling to India and the 1st photo of Robert Fraser appears to be Derek Taylor. Best wishes, RNB

Thanks for recommending Follow the Sun!

Fantastic video, can’t wait for the next part.
Imo this period combined with the White Album sessions is what a big budget Beatles biopic should focus on

17:10 - I LOVE the slowed down intro to Within You Without You

"John where would you be without Mr. Epstein?"
John:"I don't know."
