Monday, 21 September. Respect for the Aged Day, in the middle of Silver Week.
Five days off, and today is the only day I took a train.
Breakfast at McDonald's in Umeda, quiet in a way Umeda never is.
The Tsukimi burger is back, and that's how I know it's autumn.
Lunch in Yotsubashi, at a restaurant that sears fish over burning rice straw.
Bonito and yellowtail, eaten with salt. No soy sauce needed.
Bread on the way home, from the bakery inside the ticket gates.
And at night, takoyaki — with a pan I've had since university,
and no bamboo skewers to turn them with.
Four times I ate today. ¥3,550 ($22.19) in total.
To someone who went travelling, this might look like a holiday where nothing happened.
But I'll remember the quiet McDonald's, the minutes beside the fire,
and the takoyaki that completely fell apart.
I think Japanese people are always thinking about the next meal
while they're still eating this one.
How do you spend a long weekend?
Do you travel far, or stay close and take it slowly?
【About this channel】
On this channel, I share everyday life in Takarazuka City, Japan, through vlogs.
After work walks, simple meals, and quiet time spent alone at night —
nothing special, just daily life flowing together with the calm atmosphere of this town.
