3am. The last day of five days off, and I'm wide awake —
because a nap turned into sleeping until 9pm. So I go out.

One shop is still glowing at the foot of the tower block:
a ramen place open until 5am, run by one man, day and night.
Somebody is already in there, toasting with a bottle of beer.

Then a 7-Eleven at 4am, where an early-rising grandmother
buying bananas and a still-up-late me end up in the same queue.

I sat outside with a coffee to wait for the sunrise.
Thick cloud, so I never saw it. But the night ended anyway.

Five days off: shopping, eating, sleeping. That's all.
And while I had them, the town kept running without me.

The next five-day run like this is 2032.

Can you keep your routine through a holiday?
I clearly can't.
