In this video, we stay at the Garden City Hotel in Canberra and take the Myway bus to the National Gallery of Australia. It's a beautiful place to visit – a must-do if you're in Canberra. A link to the NGA website with opening times, etc., is at:

From the NGA, we take a bus into the center of Canberra, then take the new light rail out to Gungahlin and back to the center of Canberra.

From Canberra, we return to our hotel and head out for dinner at the Harmonie German Club for a dinner of pork knuckle. The link to the German Club is at:

You should be travelling free as a senior.
Your observation of Gunghalin was spot on, which is why it was cleverly built as far away as possible from the rest of Canberra necessitating the most expensive and slow form of transport to get there.
btw The cheapest beer I know of in Australia is the happy hour at the Southern Cross Club in Woden. Less than $5,
My favourite pubs are The Kingo in Kingston and Badger & Co at the ANU next to the City.
Whilst at the German club, did you notice the piece of the Berlin wall outside? It's actually the largest intact piece outside Germany in the southern hemisphere.
There's also some interesting history around a church in Ainslie that used to be a railway station in a cemetery in Sydney as well (it was bought, transported and reassembled brick by brick!).
