This is the story of buying our Talbot Express in Scotland, and then seeing if we can drive it 650 miles all the way back home.

No speed tickets here, just the long slow drive across the middle of Scotland to Loch Lomond, down through the Galloway Forest, the Lake District and south from there.

The toilet cassette has a button on it . press it to allow air into the cassette as it emptys. also dont let it get so full.

Back in the day these LDV motorhome conversions were brilliant simply because they were reasonably affordable meaning lots of young families could enjoy some time away in the countryside in much the same vein as the first Sprite caravans. Just a couple of points; children only on the above cab bed and be careful if using the rear external roof ladder as the mounting points may be corroded and weak. Enjoy and good luck! Subbed.

Our first camper was a Talbot Express❤❤ our children called it The Clownwagon…(they assumed we were getting a cool VDub..)name stuck😂. When putting water into the cassette- there’s usually a hose in the chemical disposal place- best not to put it anywhere near the drinking water tap-even if you’re really careful it’s still a bit 🤢 great trip- how you have many more- just be prepared for a bit of welding every now and then!!

Cool.! Definitely check gearbox oil... The 5th gear on these are an add on and if low on oil it's the bye bye 5th gear. Double check it's the same on your model and many suggest adding an extra .5 Ltr have a look about online to confirm.
I'd also give it a good service, all filters fluids, oils, coolant flush , replace thermostat. Enjoy ya travels ✌

Sorry, put comment in wrong place! Great van! I’ve got a 24 year old vintage one.

Tips: don’t put cassette cap anywhere near the hole of the toilet waste thing. Also, DONT put cassette anywhere near the pitch drinking water tap! You or next camper will need drinking water from it. Yuck!There is nearly always a cassette rinsing tap/hose at the cassette emptying point.
