Li Shuwen was the prominent real life character in fiction manga titled "Kenji" by Ryuchi Matsuda.

As a Baji practitioner myself, I appreciate you taking the time to cover the history of Li Shuwen and it wasn't easy to find in English since most of the vids I come across are in Chinese or Indonesian for some reason. Maybe you could cover another Baji practitioner such as Wu Zhong? He predates Li Shuwen and is one of the earliest known practitioners according to written sources.

Holy crap those pronunciations were flawless. I was just in Hong Kong and that accent would have fit right in

also the bodyguards of mao zedong praticed ba ji quan

As a student of Li Shu-Wen's Baji-Wuan, I appreciate image in the thumbnail showing Li Shu-Wen how he actually looked instead of as an anime character who looks nothing like him. For context in life he was 4 feet 11 inches. I don't love the strikland comparison, not least of which because strikland's technique isn't all that great.

Li Shuwen's students went on to form Baji schools that persist to this day. Huo Diange founded Huo style Baji and Liu Yun Qiao started the very prolific Wutan Baji lineage. It is said that Huo and Wutan lineages look different because the Huo lineage reflects the way Li Shuwen taught Baji in his early years, while the Wutan lineage reflects the way Li Shuwen taught Baji in his later years, as Liu Yun Qiao was one of his last students.

Also, fun fact - Li Shuwen's favorite move was called Fierce Tiger Climbs the Mountain, consisting of an intercept/grab followed by two straight punches, an elbow, and a horizontal takedown strike (see "猛虎硬爬山 Fierce Tiger Climbs the Mountain" for an example).

Moral of the story is: Don't accept tea from the family of the opponent you killed.

Eyyy! The FATE shoutout! In the game/anime his ult is called Wu Er Da

it is amazing that his three disciples became the bodyguards of Emperor Pu Yi, Chiang Kai Shek and Mao Zedong.

The spear:king of the hundred weapons.

It’s interesting to me of that fact as a child swords have always been my favorite as I grew up and learned more about other martial weapons the glaive became my favorite which is like a fusion of the spear and sword as it has a long reach like the spear but with a slashing motion like the sword but depending on the steel it can either slash and stab or just slash.

The spear is more basic yet so interesting as it’s cheaper to make as I learned from this channel that it requires less metal which makes it the ideal choice for military armies in the past.
It’s long reach and simple yet effectiveness  attacks and movements makes it a deadly weapon that anyone can become deadly using a spear even children.

There is an interview with Li Shuwen during a major martial arts championship in the 1930s. You can find information on the internet.

Funny how they hide the fact he lost a match. Since we learn more from losing than from winning. Going on to become even better than he would have

the spear on the red thingy...on the first attempt... in a somewhat speedy motion

Great video as always.

make one for liuyunqiao!

I've been following your channel for several years, and it would be nice if you could activate the automatic dubbing option performed by the AI in Spanish so that more people around the world, including myself, can see and better understand what you're saying, since my English is very poor and the subtitles aren't translated well at all.

Thank you for covering Baji! Have you done one on Pigua? Because both together... 😊
Love all of your vids! ❤️
