Why are British place names SO hard to pronounce?! 😂🇬🇧

This one hits VERY close to home. 😂

If you've watched my reactions before, you may have noticed that I sometimes struggle with the pronunciation of British towns, cities and place names.

And then I see the comments…

“It's pronounced THIS way!” 😂🇬🇧

The problem is… sometimes the way a British place name is pronounced doesn't seem to match the way it's actually spelled!

So in this reaction, I'm finding out WHY British place names can be so confusing and discovering the history behind some of Britain's strangest pronunciations.

The video looks at how Celtic, Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Viking influences helped shape British place names over centuries — which goes a long way toward explaining why modern spelling and pronunciation don't always seem to agree.

And honestly, knowing there's actually a historical reason behind some of this makes me feel a LITTLE better about getting them wrong. 😂

I'm an American trying to navigate British history, culture and geography, and apparently pronouncing the name of a town correctly is one of the hardest parts!
