Aegon really loved and cared for his son!! He didn’t ignore his children like Viserys.

Aegon having the motivation to be a better King and a father than his own is a great layer to the character. I saw someone in the comments mention that Viserys was always talking about how he wanted to be tested in battle and war as a king. Funny enough that’s exactly what happens to Aegon, he becomes tested over and over again in battle.
