When you hit big, remember this comment.

I wish you the greatest youtube journey. You have to talent, you have the passion and you have the charm. You can do great as long as you don't burn yourself out. I love you analysis and content so far and I hope to see more. (You remind me of a youtuber called Chalupa honestly). I like your comedy and charm and the fact you actually properly disect what went well, what didnt and what could've. Instead of nit-picking and just saying it was ass because of so-and-so and so peak just because of one thing. And again, hope to see you do well.

Lastly, please don't like little kids and shock your dog. Also mom said it's my turn to get pinned!

I miss how hostile the world used to feel. It felt like every other living thing you encountered HATED you, and INSTANTLY wanted you dead. Like your very existence was offensive and unwanted. You feared every encounter with anything that moved, because you KNEW it would do anything in its power to try to kill you.

In 3, it feels like the vast majority of the enemies are just apathetic towards you. It’s especially apparent in the carnival and the factory, where the herd and the workers will just ignore you completely aside from a few scripted encounters. The residents don’t feel hostile. They feel like background objects. You don’t have that same feeling of being absolutely HATED that you did in the first two games.

Even in the chase scenes, the enemies feel a lot less threatening. In the first two games, you felt like the enemies were always just inches away from catching you. Any hesitation, any mistake, could and WOULD lead to your death. It was such a tense, adrenaline-pumping feeling. I never felt that same sense of urgency when playing this game. I only got caught once, and it’s because I purposefully stopped to examine something in the background.

I just miss the feeling of being in a hostile world hell-bent on destroying you. That’s what I loved about the first two games. Everything hated you. And that added to the themes of cycles of trauma and how children often become the very things that they fear, through experiencing a world that’s not only not built with them in mind (evidenced by how giant everything is compared to us) but also actively despises their existence. Because that is exactly how being a child felt at times.

in shorter terms: The game got Sanitized

I wanna note that we're also just dancing around many of the sections instead of directly being in them. Like in the carnivale section, we js avoid all the rides, which coulda had some interesting puzzles. The factory could've also had us avoiding the machines as we passed through them.

In regards to the gameplay section - The developers really missed out on separating Low and Alone for 1 of the chapters.

Not only would that make the themes of loneliness and friendship stand out a lot more, but it would've also solved the issues of replaying the game as the other character.

Like, imagine if low and Alone ended up separated for a period of time and, depending on what character you chose to play as, you get to see a different side of that level that the other character isn't able to.

It's so strange how LN 3 wasn't able to have those "Hot on your tail" chases, yet somehow didn't give you ANY room for error. If you are spotted or slowed, you are done. It really makes you appreciate how great the previous games were programmed and scripted.

I really enjoyed this video. As someone who has been heavily invested into Little Nightmares ever since I played the first game, it's so disheartening to see the series take such a tumble in quality. I hope if we ever get a LN4, they can learn from videos like this,

A bit on design:
LN1-2 monsters are so iconic because they turn mundane into a nightmare fuel in unique, but logical way. All of them are people a little child can have reasonable fear of - a overly strict teacher from the school, an indifferent doctor, a creepy old janitor, and then hosting this gala of horrors are straight up characters from scary campfire stories - the Mirror Lady and a Tall Man (Slenderman, anyone?). And devs took those concepts, separated what exactly is scary about them, and cranked that one part to eleven. Like, why children can be scared of teachers? Because of a looming presence of authority in the class that a teacher is, always watching, always ready to punish. And that is precisely the sensation LN Teacher evokes with her anomalous neck - she's a constant watchful eye, looming above, surveying every corner, ready to pounce. Same for the Janitor - notice how his exaggerated features are all grotesque portrayal of old age? His skin is so wrinkled it flopped into his eyes, his withered arms turned into these gangly appendages, his legs barely visible under sagged flesh, it's a manifestation of the fear of old people and getting old yourself.
Bosses are a separate nod - both are related to the protagonists, both are properly foreshadowed and when we finally defeat them - both their deaths reveal that the true nightmares were us all along, that this is not a victory - only another turn of the same cycle.
Meanwhile LN3 is populated with just some generic monsters with no story attached to them whatsoever. Just generic spider monster because people with arachnophobia exist. Just a doll monster because old broken dolls are creepy. Some random giant guy, because megalomania. Etc. None are foreshadowed and to understand why are they even there you have to go on a hunt all across the internet for devlogs and twitter chats, aka - this info might as well not exist at all.

Maybe the lady turning u into a nome in the dlc is like witches turning people into frogs. They just turn you into an already existing creature

"Franchised" is how I feel about this game: I sense the passion behind the team trying to give us a good LN experience with the game, but it got bogged down by executives demanding we make Little Nightmares a franchise: "Spend $40!" "Make a podcast integral to the story!" "Cut chapters out to sell as DLC!", it all feels like this game got strangled by Bandai to expand the brand name of LN.

I played little nightmares 1 after class with some friends years ago and I remember how much fun we had messing around in the world. Playing the third game with those same friends, we barely got to mess around much because we were too focused on doing exactly what the game asked with no wiggle room

i listened to the sounds of nightmares and i still didn’t realise who the hypnotist was until i had to look for a walkthrough for something in chapter 4

The reason I like Little Nightmares 1+2 protagonists better for the story is because their characterization and character journeys are far more unique and interesting. We watch a world so horrific and terrifying that it erodes and destroys them both, workong upon their psychological and physical states and literally making them little monsters to join the other misshapen monsters of the world. Six falls into obsession in order to escape, and ends up betraying an ally who was trying to help her due to the traumatic reminder of the loss of some small childhood comfort, leaving her betrayed by him and unable to trust. Mono strives and battles against himself and ends up succumbing because all of his efforts to break the one he loves free from his own spell of obsession fails, because he himself is betrayed in a tragic loop, warping him into a terrible and powerful monster within the world. Six herself goes on to a ship surrounded by appetite, begins to starve surrounded by decay and food, ans becomes a voracious and greedy predator, her own desperate desire for survival eroding her self control until she isolates herself from her allies, the gnomes and betrays them, becoming a new monster of the ship. We see these children undone and made into monsters by suffering terrible trauma, and each becomes an exaggeration of the damage and suffering they underwent, the world reaffirming that is what they are, even though we the players see they had the potential to be so much more if only they could have escaped. Tbat is the horror and tragedy of this gsme, and why its protagonists were interesting. Little Nightmares 3 just makes two cute and sad protagonists trying to work together to escape. It’s serviceable but boring, and completely misses the thematic entanglements between the children becoming monstrous because they grow to embody the horror of their worlds even while trying to survive them.

Another thing that I feel like they missed was the connection between areas. The use of the mirrors to get from one place to another made it so that every location felt random and disconnected, and I honestly didn't even realize that the candy factory was a candy factory... It felt like I was running around without purpose, as if each new area was just another sort of minigame. More than trying to survive, I felt like I was exploring the world for the fun of it.

I also think that they didn't use most of the special mechanics or the secondary monsters nearly as much as they should have (umbrellas, bugs, giant plants...), and don't even get me started on the amount of recycling that was done with the monsters, environments and mechanics:

The Baby was just like the lights from the first game, the Inspector was kinda like the Teacher, The Kin and mini Kin were the most distinct, and Otto was just a giant man in a building (I didn't listen to the podcast so I thought he was just another monster, like the giant plants). On the other hand, they brought back the gnomes, the fuses and the breakable statues for no aparent reason, and sometimes, when I walked into a room, I'd sigh after noticing how much it looked like other rooms in the previous games.

And to add to the last point, the paid outfits where just the enemies from the previous games, which just showed me that they tried really hard to use the nostalgia factor to make us feel like it was related to them, but instead made me see it as a cheap and recycled copy of the last two in many aspects.

Overall, I feel very dissapointed and I have to say that I was pretty bored when playing through the game (I played it solo), just going through rooms and solving the same puzzles over and over again.
Oh, and I struggled a lot to hold Alone's hand :(  I hope that the DLC improves the game a little, and if they release a fourth one, I hope that they listen to the critizism and improve the game a whole lot.

Nice video btw ^^ You got a new sub <33

As someone who liked Sounds of Nightmares, my disappointment at the lost opportunity for Noone as a protagonist vs Otto is immense.

I do feel like the enemies scored less than an 8/10 just for the fact it doesnt feel like they, or at least a good amount of them, dont hate you as much as they used too. In past games, enemys were reckless and ruthless in their hunt of you, putting you as their number 1 priority upon notice, which i guess some did that here, but then look at the monster baby, she doesnt even want to kill you, literally just a giant baby with little personality beyond that, the only reason shes a monster is because shes a giant that can turn people to stone. And then theres the herd, which i really quite dislike, theyre not even enemys, just living decorations, sure they might grab you if you touch them, but if they dont grab you upon contact, they just look at you. I just dont feel that hatred past monsters had from the enemys in this game

I believe the meaning of the adventure wasn't friendship and loneliness, but rememberence. Though they did it in a really dumb, weird way.

The Spiral, as a name, tries to convey the going around in circles around a trauma, in this case Low's past in The Institute, smacking your head on the memories.

Every zone, even though a disconnected mess that almost doesn't click (something that could've been brought up in the video, but that's just a nickpick as it's amazing as it is), all represent different childhood things, twisted and deformed.

A baby's playground (the Necropolis) with death symbolized as crow (though I still believe is the North Wind) creates a nostagic feeling with the sepia tone of the desert. The candy factory remembers us of the indulgence of the sweets we all partook in during childhood. The carnival our memories on those, too.

Finally, The Institute was the direct memories of Low. One thing is clear, though: Low tries to look forward with his dreams of being with Alone in the Real World, but memories and melancholy comes. Sometimes it made hem stronger (like the doll) and sometimes they needed to confront the past (like with Otto). But they needed to push forward.

In any case, the game makes an awful work trying to convey those stuff, making so all the places were disconnected almost completely. They should've tried to stick to a less ambiguous place. If The Spiral was a more defined place, and looked more literally like one, maybe it could've been astonishing!

I tried to play as the girl and the boys AI was too dumb to follow any of my instructions, so I literally had to quit the game and restart it as him

i just hate the lore they added. It completely destroys the hopeless atmosphere the original 2 had. It felt like the whole world was hostile to this children, and that there was no place where they truly belonged. But now this world is just an obstacle in their journey, they can leave it behind if they work hard enough.
Plus it was FUN not knowing why the world was this way! All of these hints that something corrupted the world, that the monsters might have been normal humans. Now they're just monsters dreamed up.

I don’t understand how everybody gets the imaginary friend idea so wrong. “If she’s an imaginary friend, how can she help us”… the “flashbacks” are in real life, when Lo is awake. When Lo sleeps he goes to the nowhere, that’s where his imaginary friend is real: IN HIS DREAM.
