If Jason killed all the adults in part 4 was his plan to play video games with Tommy in a never ending childhood paradise?

I will defend VIII. Jason is like a ghost. We have to ask if Rennie really saw Jason as a child, or if Jason is a manifestation of her trauma, just as he was in Part 1. This is why he teleports. He's here because of Rennie in ways. Yes it's sloppy but like a ghost, he haunts Rennie and until she drowns Jason for good, she can't get rid of her trauma with her uncle.

I interpreted the ending of Part V to be Tommy learning that, instead of fighting his trauma and losing that fight constantly (having fits of rage, night terrors, visions, etc.) because he futilely tries to return to that innocent childhood that he will never get back.

Instead, in defeating Roy and realizing that he was similarly enraged at the death of his son as Pamela Voorhees was, realizes he needs to end the cycle rather than become another victim to it and perpetuate it. He learns to embrace his trauma and integrate it into himself rather than try to eliminate or suppress it. He might not be the same person, but it's the only way he sees to move forward.

Kind of like the Hulk/Bruce Banner, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, etc., being two opposites in one person. Rather than ridding the dark side of themselves, the only way they can be healthy is to learn to absorb and integrate that "dark" or angry part of themselves into a cohesive person.

I don't think they really kept that up with VI, though. He seems mostly well adjusted as a "normal" person with the unswerving goal of defeating Jason.

Loved the retrospective. people always look past these movies as just gore p*rn but underneath all that, there are amazing things to be had. What I like about Jason is he has a clear understandable motive compared to other slashers.

Total Drama and Friday the 13th love that. I've thought for a long time that Jason was carrying on his mother's repressive abuse and Tommy's story was breaking a generational curse. Love him saving Reggie from Roy, digging up his past traumas and putting them to rest. I also love fvj because Jason kills teens trying to grow up to fast and Freddy kills them for not growing up fast enough. It's caving inward on them.

I personally ascribe to The Haddonfield’s Registry’s take in his Under The Lake timeline that Kris being attacked by Jason wasn’t a memory but a premonition. THR points out in his video that female characters throughout the series have had premonitions about the incoming doom in each movie, and there’s an argument to be made that this is the case here. It also fits in the context of the movie since Kris says that she woke up in her bed and her parents didn’t remember the very argument she says caused her to run away into the woods.

The first four Fridays were pure genius! Why? For the basic reason that: They kept it simple! Yes, there were a few twists and turns in there, but all in all- psycho stalks and kills counselors and campers at an infamous campsite in creative ways. That's really all there is and needs to be to it. Oh and throw in a little nudity, drugs/alcohol, stupid humor, and shazam! There you go.

Ive never seen someone tske this deep a look at friday the 13th (besides czsworld and the vile eye but that was more on jason as a whole not the series itself or Jason in each film) this video is so good I'm definitely subscribing now

The only problem I have with people issues on Chris assault backstory in pt 3. Is that they use their knowledge of what's established in 4,6,7,8 FvsJ, and remake. To try and dismiss pt 3, but people forget that part 3 is literally the second film with adult Jason. At the time, in 1982 there wasn't much to his character yet. They were still forming and figuring out what they wanted the character to be. He wasn't completely established by pt 2, for people to say he's not capable of this or that.

In defense of Part 3, while definitely the most meager offering in terms of story, characters, and themes, I think Part 3 is maybe the most visually engaging in terms of pure cinematography, shot composition, lighting, and character design. It not only boasts the best-looking non-zombie Jason, but I think all that time and effort that went into getting the 3D to work elevated the look of the movie to a point where even today it feels far more visually dramatic than almost every other Friday. (Aside from the 3D fuzziness.) You could argue this is just a byproduct of chasing a trend, but the results are still right there on screen, obvious even in the few clips you chose for this video.

This is definitely one of the best takes on Friday the 13th's depth I've seen and really got me thinking myself. I don't know if this is how I personally interpret the series or Jason. I personally prefer to view Jason as the campfire ghost story come to life. But I'm glad to see that there's discussion on the substance of this franchise, especially when I think it deserves way more credit than the Halloween franchise when it comes to what it's done for the genre. Thank you for this. This has even reminded me on how I myself have wanted to do videos analyzing the Phantasm and Maniac Cop movies.

I got back into my friday the 13th phase after like 7 years and just seen this video. Ive been a fan since the age of 11 and have been also playing the game wich is still something that im sad about. Great video btw!

I love all your ideas here, super interesting and I think correct, but none of it was intentional, Friday was 100% a cash in with no thought put into any of its entries
