Hey guys, I didn’t expect this video to get this many views(a lot of views for me). If you enjoyed it, subscribing would really help me reach monetization since I still don't even have a 1000 subs, and I’ll push out more videos for you.
Does anyone else find it extremely unsettling how in this current political climate they suddenly pop out a censored and sanitized Animal Farm adaptation almost on cue?
The answer's obvious. It's not ignorance or a misunderstanding of the source material. They know exactly what kind of movie they made and how exactly they re-wrote the story.
I think the Donkey was an interesting character that you didn't mention. He was the only animal other than the pigs that could read fluently, he understood what was going on from the beginning, but didn't do anything until Boxer was taken away. I think he represents a hidden group of society who know what's going on but don't speak until it's far too late. maybe it's because of fear of stirring trouble for themselves or because they don't believe in the system, but they're not doing much to change it, maybe because they don't believe change is possible or they underestimate how bad things can actually get.
I've seen some people saying that this feels like what Animal Farm would be if the pigs wrote it, but if anything, it's more like what Animal Farm would be if the incompetent, totally wasted farmer wrote it.
The animals didn't revolt because they wanted to rule the world, they revolted because Jones stopped providing the bare minimum
In the beginning, the farm is "functional but failing." It's the moment Jones loses control (aka neglect) that the power vacuum is created
Orwell is suggesting that incompetence is just as dangerous as tyranny. A leader who is too lazy to feed his people creates the exact same amount of suffering as a leader who steals their food
5:48 Snowball doesn't barely escape with his life. It's implied heavily that he's straight up killed by Napoleon's dogs, just like the chickens and those that sided with them
"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."
The worst part to me about the new one is boxer and how at the beginning he's being sent to the slaighterhouse which defeats the entire point of him being worked to death then sent off after he's lost his usefulness.
This new movie is an example of how Squealer was so effective. They don't want people to understand the real meaning of Animal Farm and how it could cause people to think of the similarities to today's age as it was a reflection of the past age. With this new movie, they rewrite the message so it's not effective and if you try to remember the old version or even look up the old version, you will be met with this absolute garbage instead. Just like Squealer convinced the others they couldn't trust their eyes, thoughts or memories, this is what Hollywood is doing to this important message.
