I live in India and domestic violence is a very serious issue here.Women are expected to submit to there partners and any woman that tries to defy this are chastised and sometimes even murdered. Seeing White women calling submission empowering and feminist when this is the reality for women in third world countries really irks me.

For something to be satire it needs to not be easily misconstrued as serious. That photo requires way too much extra context about Sabrina for anybody to take it at face value and just assume it was satire. If I found it in the wild without knowing who this woman was without knowing what she did for a living, her music, etc. I would not think it was satire and that itself is the problem.

What sets Meg, Flo Milli, basically all black female rappers apart is that they remain the same whether they're around men/women in MVs or real life! Their dance moves don't just change when they're alone/hanging out with girls. It's bc they're being themselves without centering the male gaze. Their songs will address being pro-choice too, yk true reclamation of our power and control over our bodies!
Sabrina's album cover doesn't have an ounce of that empowerment bc she's not reclaiming anything. Instead, she is degrading herself even further by kneeling on all fours in front of a man while he holds onto her hair like a leash. She could've at least been honest about trying to fulfill the male fantasy bc she knows damn well that she doesn't act the same way around women. If this really was her true self, she'd be getting her hair pulled by everyone near her, man or woman.
