My problem is the writing is shit ever since Emil got promoted and the talent left. They dont seem to care about lore, they dont want consequences for choices, they dont want branching narratives. They want to give you the illusion of choice, want modders to fix the game and provide content, and they want it to be simplistic. Im sorry but these games are not going to be great, they will be like Starfield. Mid game thats bland. They certainly arent going to be a rpg, bethesda doesnt make rpgs. They should fire emil and other writers, hire the modders and stick with them, go back to making actual rpgs and competently fix the issues instead of ignoring it until they can bundle it with a paid enhanced edition.

Modern Bethesda is creatively bankrupt. Our hope should be in European studios, not Bethesda. Not to mention their ego and inability to listen to any criticism is fucking stupid and they truly dont respect their consumers. They dont give a shit what we want. We need better than Skyrim. Skyrim was an ok game but a shit rpg. They need to make a great rpg with a great world, they just arent capable of that.

Two things make me worried about ES6. The core of its development did come during a peak period of activism in the industry which has had negative impacts both on story elements and game play. Even if that is waning now, those are going to be already deeply embedded in it at this point. The other is that the overall trend for BGS has been a simplification of the RPG mechanics and skill depth, all seemingly in a bid to drawing in more of the general audience. Skyrim's system wasn't bad but Obvilion's seemed deeper, same for the Fallout franchise.
I'm hoping that my worries will be shown to be groundless and BGS learned from Starfield's failure that their games strengths are strong RPG elements (extensive skill tree and progression, good story impacts, etc) combined with an immersive world where exploration it is rewarding (not some proc.gen random POI placement thing)

Using the situation to explain itself, one could say they announced TES 6 to garner hype from acquisition, and wooing Microsoft to get them to buy Zenimax.

I think it just came out recently that they were supposed to do elder scrolls six after fallout four so that would be a fair argument on why it was announced so early even a senior game developer left because he was told that he was going to lead point on writing, but then they went straight to Starfield

You are right that Bethesda teased ES 6 early to get make their studio more attractive, but Todd did stress that they weren't in active development and wouldn't be until after Starfield shipped.  I don't want to sound like I'm glazing Bethesda because I actually have very little faith in Bethesda Studios.  I just get irked when everyone says they announced ES 6 in 2018 like that's when they started developing the game when it was stressed at the time that it was not the case.

Im worried for ES6 that they are gonna make settlements empty so you have to build everything. I want a world that already exists, i dont want to spend 10 hours collecting nails and screws and building shacks. And pls make the game STABLE! No crashes pls!

I feel your pain, but even if every fan complain, I don't see games releasing any faster.  Even if ES6 releases after 2030, I will still buy it, because I'm addicted to modding😊

ES6 main campaign is rumoured to be based around the adamantine tower north of sentinel city, stopping the Dominion from either destroying the tower or reaching the incredible magic that lies in it (in the Lore).

I could see them doing a story where the Dominion try getting the incredible power, but are betrayed by a dedric god to try destroy the tower. They damage the tower, And we as the player have to stop the dominion, dedric god and cult followers to save hammerfell.

And instead of dragon souls from Skyrim, it'll be ancient magic we absorb to get powers and a skill point. Like an Ancient Atherium Adamantine Crystal.

Fallout New Vegas came out 16 years ago, if there is really still anyone working at Bethesda or Obsidian from then that still holds any kind of ill will it's pretty pathetic. That being said, even though they still have the same names and hold the same IPs, these are NOT the same studios that made those games that we love. These are money printing IP campers. Very very few people want to spend their entire career developing the same thing, especially when their leadership is so obviously subpar.

Neither The Elder Scrolls nor Fallout will ever be the same, pretty much just because of the passage of time and the wants and needs of individuals and organizations. People should just love those franchises for what they were. The chances of any futher entries being the great new thing are slim to none, only because what they will be compared against belonged to a completely different context of their era of video games.

I'm not saying Bethesda can't make a great game now, only that whatever great game they may make will not be directly comparable to their past successes, because the studio along with people's expectations have changed so much since their heydey.

Let's not talk about CD PROJECT Red plans too soon, we still don't know if they're able to pull it off with this "a game every two years" stuff, just saying..

Bethesda Needed to get a company restructure, otherwise they would keep doing as little as possible and just keep taking the money.  Aand maybe fire Todd Howard as well.

I'll wait and see what happens.  Getting hyped up for something these days leads to disappointment.  My expectation is that there will be an endless stream of horse armor, and the game will be designed around this.  If it is a bare bones, half-empty game that is intended to be filled in with an incoherent mess of paid mods that will break every time there is an update, then I don't think I will feel the need to play it.

The Outer Worlds was great. The first time through. The Outer Worlds replay value wasn't so great. Which was a shame with how the game had multiple endings based on player actions. The Outer Worlds 2 wasn't quite as great. It felt like yet another bland replay of The Outer Worlds.

Starfield was bad but then someone a couple of years ago had turn it into a Stars Wars universe using mods and it was great but not as good as the original Stars Wars games.

Did this guy even play any of the fallout games?

I heard from someone who I know works at Bethesda that the team developing elder scrolls 6 the first time messed up so bad that they couldn't even repair game to get it playable. They then shelved it and fired that team. They picked up development again in the past 3 years and according to that person they have new writers and it already has much better writing that Starfield according to them. It is a different writing team than Starfield at the very least. I'm hopeful that it will be a banger and a return to form for great lore and a fun open world to explore with modern graphics and gameplay.

I think the game will be great, for the fact that Bethesda knows this can potentially be it for them. That's why they haven't released anything yet, especially after Starfield flopping so friggin badly.
