The most unbelievable thing about this movie is that after 3 years of repetition & training that a German Sheppard would just take off like that,it was 8 weeks old when he got it,the Dogs only ever know that routine & would not run anywhere.
That part breaks the entire immersion.

I hope everyone knows the “zombies” are actually vampires

The Zomboid reference hit hard. I decided to check out build 42 last week after not touching the game for years. Got myself a nice safehouse a wee drive from West Point. Rain collectors, a working generator, two cars, and a ton of food. Got to week 4, and my guy was a crowbar swinging badass with hundreds of dropped zombies under his belt. I decided to drive into town to retrieve a better car, but I forgot my siphon hose. Turned around in the pouring rain, pissed at wasting time, sped up the car and smashed into a tree. Terminal blood loss, because I decided to drive during a storm and get annoyed over nothing.

Also, I can't believe it's been 20 years. I remember rumors about a sequel  being talked about when the movie came out on DVD and everyone saw the alternate ending. Man, I'm feeling old, and I'm surprised a sequel is coming out in 2027.

As someone who loves zombie films, I've watched this movie once and never again  I cannot rewatch the scene with Sam it's just too much for me.

The first thought came to my mind the first time I saw this movie back in 2007 was Robert is loaded with a big house in the middle of New York City

To be fair, you HAVE to put all your eggs in one basket when you are alone in this kind of apocalypse. Unlike in 7 days to die, if your base fails, you don't get to respawn. The ideal strategy is to make one base as impenetrable as possible, not make several weak bases that are easily overrun.  Really, his biggest base problem was not fortifying his base more. The window was broken into way too quickly. he should have spent some of those three years replacing every outwardly facing glass window with steel plating.

The fact that he see's Fred out there in the streets. Just shows you how much the loneliness has messed wit his mind, and my guy was straight up confused and scared of it. His survival instinct was long gone.. surely it would happen to you as well. In that scenario

This movie really disappointed me as a very big fan of the book. The original vampires in the book are so terrifying because they wait outside his freaking house EVERY night and call out to him to come outside. Neville's feeling of loneliness is really driven home in the book and just hits so much better.

Welp, it's not like "it's convenient" to stay at the house, it's THE LAB. You can't just move the lab and all the materials and equipment.

20:58 I didn’t know we’re getting a sequel

I like this film, but i LOVE the novel. It's fairly short but really captures the despair Robert goes through. Some real heart-wrenching moments, you almost feel like you're going insane with him...and the ending is a fantastic twist!

The alternate ending is much better because it implies that the main character finally learns what he failed to see all this time which was that the zombies have started to socialize/form attachments… and also it adds some interesting questions for the sequel for example now that the female zombie is recovering, is she gonna turn into a human amidst all the zombies??

seeing the batman v superman ad in the shot of times square is so weird. i remember the ads for that movie but it's like when you consider the aztec empire and oxford university existing at the same time.

That woman got him killed within like 2 days 😂

I felt called out on that Zomboid part lol. Zomboid teaches you the pitfall of complacency hard. Most of my long-time runs end with me dying due to being complacent after establishing a fully functional base or two... dying either because I was busy doing menial tasks in an already cleared gas station and getting jumped from behind (thanks Wandering Zombies mod), or because I was over-encumbered on a looting run, and I whiffed swinging my melee weapon.

As for compound 6. He was producing that vaccine for human testing.  He hadn't though about the fact that the dog might be infected.  He wasn't thinking ahead. Complacency is an enemy.
