So fun fact: Necro Desire is the name of her original c.5HK and Mysterious Arc is her 2HP, so MVCI and CVS1 actually label them correctly! Everything else gets it wrong.

Morrigan’s 2D Sprite: Truly the Toyota Camry of fighters back in the day

Shoutouts to the Japanese side of the dev team for not knowing what succubi were, resulting in them being like "YEAH THAT'S COOL" and "DO THAT" and "THAT'S AWESOME" upon hearing someone from the U.S. side of the dev team tell them what they were. Gotta be one of my favorite pieces of game dev trivia.

She is literally a face of Capcom while being in one of the most neglected series.

Glad Capcom knows they need to keep putting her in games.

I always loved her design. Sad it seems like UMVC3 was her peak

There's also that one trivia fact I heard once that Morrigan was one of the first - if not THE first - introductions of the Succubus species to japanese culture. That would make her not only one of the most iconic fighting game characters, but one of the most influential characters in japanese media...

Gooners worldwide, rejoice!

Fun fact: Morrigan is the originator of the Shun Goku Satau move input as Darkness Illusion uses it

One entire hour of Morrigan? In october? Yes!

I will always be sad that Darkstalkers hasn't been revived yet, but it IS nice that Morrigan is still so beloved and shows up in other games. I always liked her ending in the games where she just shows up back home and takes a nap - because I guess beating up a bunch of monsters is pretty stressful!

Morrigan, the only Darkstalkers character. According to Capcom, anyway.

50:31 WHOA HEY WOW NOW MORRIGAN 😨

As for Morrigan's moveset herself, a little touch I loved all the way 'till Tatsunoko vs Capcom was having Lilith assist Morrigan in her moveset. I dunno, it felt like a neat way to incorporate her in the game while also respecting DarkStalkers
I was pretty bummed out that Marvel vs Capcom 3 onwards don't have Lilith in that capacity anymore.

As a Morrigan main who likes Morrigan for, yknow, reasons of enjoying her moveset and movement tech, it makes me super happy that we’ve got a video for her now.

Your videos are always so full of love to a character’s history and to fighting games, always makes me so happy to tune in for one and get to learn more about these fighters!

(Now let’s keep hoping that Darkstalkers will keep staying not dead and eventually come back, no matter where they have to pop up at until they get their own game again.)

Morrigan's win quote against Ghost Rider in UMvC3 is hilariously ironic in hindsight given her interactions with him in MvCI. XD

The capcom crossover queen has finally arrived for the perfect month.

A shout-out to her portrayal in SvC Match of the Millennium (done by SNK, which is why it isn't covered in here): while her supers (Valkyrie Turn aside) have their inputs simplified to double quarter circle inputs, their MAX versions have an extra stylish touch added to them to make them flashier:

• Darkness Illusion summons Lilith in place of a simple double, like in Pocket Fighter
• Finishing Shower's missiles were replaced with Soul Eraser beams, with an extra finisher in the end by her shooting one last beam from her finger!

Another fascinating quirk of hers is that apparently she has a fair bit of shout-outs to the mecha genre. Which explains some of her quirks such as her signature dashes (her wings turn into a jetpack), her Soul Fist animation resembling Mazinger Z's signature Rocket Punch (her wings again turn into a jetpack in the standing version, with an addition of a tail stabilizer from Z Gundam), Finishing Shower shooting out a volley of missiles plus Soul Eraser taking the form of large cannons and so on.

Who could have imagined that Morrigan, in a way was the root of how robot girls would be portrayed in fighting games too? Perhaps she was a closet mecha fan in her spare time.

"I see that you like to run your mouth. I wonder if you could use it for anything else..."

MORRIGAN PLEASE THIS IS A TEEN RATED GAME!

The reasons she stands out so much with her sprite is cuz she has black outlines when SF alpha chars outlines have colors and by cvs2 characters barely having any outline

Her outlines are to help show off body transformation and morphing

Morrigan took her loses against Manabu in the arcades of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom so personally that she swore she would terrorize the next fighting game she'll be in.

I swear, we WILL get a Darkstalkers 4 one day...I hope 😢

Unpopular opinion
Morrigan's 3D model in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is her best look 😊

The 3D models in that game have aged very well, better than many other games that try to emulate a more realistic style
